Pass side inside on the fire wall inside by the heater core just below it. There's a black box with white botton on top. Push the white button downword to reset the fuel pump.

For the fuel filter, you'll find it along the inside fram rail in the driver's side. Just follow the fuel lines.

Good luck oh and not sure if the 1988 F250 are the same as the 86, but if they are what i typed out should help. Happy Easter

SOURCE: cant find fuel filter on 1988 foed econoline van

Follow the fuel line right up to the carb or throttle body. Sometimes it's a very small "metal can" looking thing that is on the carb end of the fuel line...surprisingly small...not like the bigger in-line filters found along the frame rails on other models. This small can-like filter screws into the carb and the line is attached to same. It's about the size of a quarter in diameter and an inch and a half long.

Hi and welcome to FixYa!

Any erratic idle problem? If it does then it can be the MAF (mass air flow) sensor or IACV (idle air control valve). If one of these two is faulty the vehicle will have vacuum supply irregularities which may cause stalling. I strongly suggest that you have an engine scan on your nearest auto repair shop to know what needs to be replaced.

Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one!

Where would the fuel tank selector valve be located at in a 88 ford f250 be at?

the selector is located between the two tanks and has 3 or 4 fuel lines connected to it as well as wires if its an electrical switch.some had a manual switch which is usually behind the front seat on the floor that switches the tanks from one to the other when turned.

Good Morning: I have a 1988 Ford F250. As of late it has started to stutter and chug. The rpm odometer states that it is idling fine...no jumps in rpms. I'm not sure where to start at.

Check(replace) your external fuel filter located on driver side frame rail. pound(not with anything sharp or hard!) on fuel tank(s), as they have a screen in them to filter fuel, and also can clog. Check air filter-if dirty, blow out, or replace(recommend replace). Is engine check light on? It could be an exhaust oxygen sensor that's bad, or the catalytic converter is clogging. When was last tune up? If this problem had a gradual onset, it may need a tune up. There are other, more complex problems, - try these things first.

Replaced the fuel pump in 1988 ford f250 and the engine still seems to not be getting fuel

follow fuel lines from gas tank to engine are any lines crushed. next replace fuel filter. check to be sure fuel filter is installed in right direction. arrow on fuel filter should point toward engine. double check that fuel lines are connected properly, some fuel pumps have three fuel lines one for pressure , one for return and one vent line.last possible bad fuel pump from factory

I just bought a 1988 f250 5.8l v-8. When I got it today they said it had been sitting a few months. I drove the truck it was ok for about a mile then sputtered and died. truck would start and sounded like...

Is fuel filter on backwards? This is common in fords cuz ppl run tank dry then switch tanks so all rust sticks to bottom of strainer some gets through. Start there look for arrow on side o filter point toward front

My son ran my truck out of gas. Its a 1988 F250

first, is this a diesel? if it is there is a line or oring loose allowing it to **** air--diesels dont like leaks like that and there is a whole procedure for voiding the air from the lines on diesels. next could be the in tank pump and also does it have duel tanks? does the duel tank switch work? running out of fuel with in tank pumps can burn up the pump (the fuel itself provides lubrication and cooling for the pump, gas or diesel) and of course check the filter, running out and refilling could have disturbed trash in the tank
