Hydraulic arms for 2001 hyundai elantra hatchback

We took our 2001 hyundai elantra hatchback for an oil change the the hatchback doesn't stay open. The arms were obviously ''adjusted'' or something and man, that hatchback is heavy.

How can I undo what the dealership did?

Right: no reason for them to open the hatch at all. A friend said those struts were adjustable. But this was a dealership - so why would they change them, to swap out crummy struts with mine for another customer? Maybe Hyundai doesn't make those anymore?

Thank you cruuzr. Do you know of any good online stores where I can buy replacements? I ask because as web savvy as I am, I'm having the hardest time finding a place. The dealership wants to charge me 3 hours labor for what I understand to be a 10 minute job.

if you go back to dealer they will certainly fit new ones won't they ?? but fist they have to get somebody with faulty struts such as yours are now ?? these struts are just clip on/off in minutes ? so not necessarily dealer ? mr nobody ? maybe ? as i said why the need to open hatch to change oil ??? how long after oil change b4 you discovered fault ? have seen wheels exchanged on hypermart car parks and gone unnoticed for weeks till customer finds tyres are suddenly worne out ? then on investigation different brand fitted ? so ask who could/had oppotunity to exchange ?? and when?

hi if you are saying the hatch was ok b4 you had oil changed and did stay up ? there is no reason for garage to open hatch to do oil change+filter only the bonnet ! also these hydraulic struts are a sealed unit /not adjustable as far as other models of hyundai go so suspect someone has changed them ? whilst at garage ? especially if parked unlocked ? these struts fail gradually not suddenly ? ask a few questions???

They are gas charged shocks, so if they aren't holding, they won't hold in the future. You will either have to "rig" it, or buy new/used units and replace them. It could be just one that is bad (and it is usually really random when they go out), but they only make them just strong enough to hold as a pair.

liftsupportsdepot.com However I would strongly recommend finding a good salvage yard and just taking those. It is an extremely simple fix and I would not recommend paying anyone to do it. Just have a friend there to help support the hatch as you change them.

My 2001 Hyundai elantra won't go anywhere in any gear the clutch pedal still feels good and strong though and makes no noise or chatter when engaged or disengaged where do I begin

if cable check the cable for broken wires --replace the cable
if hydraulic , replace the clutch master cylinder
even though the pedal feels good if it is a cable it may be jamming and not allowing full pressure on the clutch plate by the pressure plate
same with the hydraulic system
have some one operate the clutch pedal while you check the throw out arm at the box bell housing
It should have around 2" or more movement

I have a Hyundai Elantra 2001. The low fuel light came on and won't go off even though the car if full of gas.

If gauge still shows empty and light is on then inside tank there is a arm thats prob just stuck remove lower rear seat and will see entry to tank gauge has about 3 to 4 screws open and check if arm is down or floating .

2001 hyundai elantra gs, the car shifts for the first 30 seconds into drive, then down shifts into second and stays there. diagnostic codes po765,po755, tran oil is brown color 121000 on car, what do you...

Unfortunately I believe it is beyond a simple Fluid and Filter change. Once the Fluid is Burned and you get fault codes your going to have to have the transmission rebuilt.

Elantra Backdoor shuts closed and does not stay open.

replace the hatch struts. I'm assuming you're talking about the back hatch. There should be 1 or 2 struts (look like shock asborbers), they've probably gone bad.
