When driving down the road esspecially when turning my Mountaineer is making a noise which seems to be coming from the front end. I can feel it in my steering wheel when turning. I just replaced the passenger side hub bearing, but it is still making the rubbing sound and gets louder and faster with the speed im going?

SOURCE: 2002 Mountaineer SUV, 4WD, Especially while turning the wheels

I had the same problem with my 2002 Mountaineer at about forty thousand miles. Murcury replaced the steering column free under warranty. I now have ninty two thousand miles and it's back. The rear end is making a whining noise, the tranny is starting to slip, and the rear window regulator went out. Why did we buy a Mercury?????? Disgusted Dave!!!

A popping noise while I drive my Pontiac torrent

Hi most of the time would be a ball joint on lower control arms and tie rod ends are worn out. When you drive in to the hole on the road your wheel drops down and on its way up make this noise. This is worn ball joint. Problems with over and under steering would be worn out tie rod ends

Humming sound while driving

if the noise changes if you swerve on the road it would lead towards a wheel bearing if it stays the same rotate the tires and see if the noise changes to the rear

Vibration coming from front axle when coming to a stop it gets worse, brakes are good , maybe cv joint?

if you feel the pulsation in brake pedal when stopping. its a warped brake rotor thats causing it. for bad cv joint symtoms--- Unusual noises when making turns. As you are driving on the road and you make a turn at the corner, if you start hearing unusual sounds coming from under the car then this is one of the symptoms of a bad CV joint. These noises will sound like something is clicking beneath the car every time you turn the steering wheel. Evidence of a damaged boot. Steering wheel feels heavier. The steering wheel will start to feel tighter and heavier and you can hardly make simple turns to the left or right. In severe cases you might even feel heavy vibrations like you are driving down a rocky road.

Feels like my mountaineer is walking all over the road

If the "toe in" adjustment is not right the self correcting driving down a rail feel will be lost and it will feel like it is wandering. So first I would have it aligned, however make them tell you what parts are most likely worn out and replace them before they align it. Most likely this is a critter which will need a 4 wheel alignment. It is nearing 10 years old and most of the parts are getting near the end of their service life span. Everything wears out, even people.

Grinding noise in front end

Hi
Had the exact same problem, on a used 2003 Protege ES with 82,000 miles that I purchased.
Started with the loud "road noise" I thought well maybe thats just the sound that it makes.
And then noticed that it varies when turning.
This will continue to get worse and then your abs light will come on when it gets bad enough to trigger the sensor..
It turned out to be a bad wheel bearing.
Take it to a shop and have an experienced mechanic check it out. Its repairable.
