SOURCE: brake lights don't work - 2003 toyota corolla

Is there power to the bre light switch, a 12 volt test light works gret for this test, they are cgeap and avail at any parts store. If the switch has power in and out when the brake pedal is pressed then the turn signal/multifunction switch is most likely the problem.

SOURCE: how to change tail light brake switch on 1994 toyota corrolla

Normally this is caused by a problem with the brake light switch. If you don't take care of this soon you will have a dead battery, so try this. Look under the dash at the brake pedal. There will be a switch mounted on the backside of the pedal/arm that has a push button switch inside. Have someone stand behind the car and check to see if the brake lights go off when you pull the brake pedal away from the switch toward the driver's seat. If they do, then you need to turn the outer housing of the switch a little bit to make it pull away from the brake pedal when the pedal is in its resting position.

Sorry, I can't remember which way to tell you to turn it but a few turns should be all that it takes. If that doesn't work then you may need to replace the switch but they rarely fail.

SOURCE: brake lights will not go out

Sounds like the brake light switch on the pedal is out of adjustment.

SOURCE: 1994 toyota corolla brake lights won't turn off

Thanks for choosing FixYa and welcome. You need to check the brake switch. Your brake pedal contacts the brake switch when it is pressed down. There is a small button on the brake switch that activates the lights. It may be stuck or broke. Try to loosen the button first. If it won't, buy another one. They only cost a few dollars.

Toyota Corolla The parking lights and tail lights wont turn. Did smell a burning smell. Change brake light switch 2 months ago

Check the fuse for the lights- I'll bet it's blown. If it is, it may be because of a short in the wires or something. If you changed the light switch, whoever did it might have messed the wiring up a little bit and they just need to be taped better or something. You can replace the fuse and see what happens next.

Tail lights wont come on in 2001 toyota corolla

Check brake light switch, probably under dash,
on or next to brake pedal lever.
If bulbs and switch[es] check out, have helper press pedal,
and check for voltage/power at sockets.

Car

Fuses will blow out when there is a wire that's grounded out somewhere. Take the brake light sockets with the bulbs in it out of the lens and check for a wire that's broken or maybe corroded. Something is grounding out when you hit the brakes.
