2003 Tribute stuttering, especially in low gears, like it wants to stall (it never has stalled out, but I lose power, the rpms drop and I have to floor it to get anything out of it). It usually happens in lower gears/lower speeds, don't notice it so much on the highway. Odd thing, this comes and goes. When it happens, the AC stops being cold. It still blows, but not cold air. As soon as the engine comes back to life, the air is cold again. Not getting anything odd on the dash (no cel, not overheating, no low oil pressure, but the RPMs definitely drop when it happens). Any and All HELP is Appreciated!

SOURCE: engine light on 2002 mazda protege is on even after changing o2

Try cleaning the Mass Airflow (MAF) Sensor. My 2002 Protege check engine light came on and it started stalling at stoplights if I didn't keep the engine revved a little. Manager at AutoZone checked the computer code for the light (P0171?), and it said it was running lean. He suggested I try the MAF sensor cleaner they have ($6.99) rather than replacing the 02 sensor, etc.; it made a *significant* difference. (I think I need to do it again to get it totally cleaned out, but the can is for at least 4 cleanings.) The MAF sensor is the large component that air goes through right after the air filter. If you don't have the repair manual for the car (search online for PDF's), you search for the part online to see what it looks like. Mainly, it's a tube about 4" across with some small wire things inside. The cleaner can said it was a 10 minute job; mine took 20 minutes, but only because the tube leading from the MAF sensor to whatever is next (a kind of bent elbow tube, with a couple of accordian-style ripples) tore, and I had to duct-tape that up to seal it. (Still haven't gotten that replaced - found them online for ~$40. Maybe this weekend...)

Check the wires one at a time for oil on them when you remove them fron cylinder spark plug. If there is an excess of oil on them, they will short out to the housing under load and wii eventually kill the coil unit. They are not cheap, but if bad replace all at same time. Ford sells the wires and mazda. I would advise replacing the plugs with good plugs like ngk or denso. I will check again tomorrow to see if you need further help

SOURCE: 2004 Mazda RX8 Heater problem

There is a well known problem that is a manufacturer's defect with the soldered connection on the circuit board behind the temperature knob. There is a fix to re-solder the connections but the dealer will gladly take $450 to replace it with the same bad board that will last you a while. Look for the link to show you how to fix it yourself.

Car stalls at low rpms in gear. vacuum hose possible problem?

There are several potential causes for a car stalling at low RPMs in gear, and a vacuum hose problem is one possibility. Here are some other things to consider:

Fuel delivery issue: If the car is not getting enough fuel, it may stall at low RPMs. This could be due to a faulty fuel pump, a clogged fuel filter, or a problem with the fuel pressure regulator.

Ignition problem: If the car is not receiving sufficient spark at the spark plugs, it may stall at low RPMs. This could be caused by a faulty ignition system, such as a failing ignition coil or a damaged spark plug wire.

Clogged air filter: If the air filter is clogged, it can restrict the flow of air to the engine, which can cause the car to stall at low RPMs.

Throttle body issue: If the throttle body is dirty or malfunctioning, it can cause the car to stall at low RPMs.

Mass airflow sensor problem: The mass airflow sensor measures the amount of air entering the engine and sends this information to the engine control unit (ECU). If the sensor is not working properly, it can cause the car to stall at low RPMs.

To determine the cause of the problem, you may need to have the car inspected by a mechanic. They will be able to diagnose the issue and recommend the appropriate repair. In the case of a vacuum hose problem, the mechanic will check for any leaks or damage to the hose and replace it if necessary.

Hi , l have a Mitsubishi express van 2003 auto , 2.0l carby, the van has lack of power I lose throttle, rpm drops and no power, sometimes its stalls , l restart the van after a minute and its ok

There are a few possible reasons why your 2003 Mitsubishi Express van might be having a lack of power, losing throttle, and stalling. Bad spark plugs: Spark plugs are responsible for igniting the fuel in your van's engine. If the spark plugs are bad, they will not be able to ignite the fuel properly, which can lead to a loss of power, stalling, and other problems. Bad fuel filter: The fuel filter removes impurities from the fuel before it enters the engine. If the fuel filter is clogged, it will restrict the flow of fuel to the engine, which can also lead to a loss of power, stalling, and other problems. Low compression: Low compression can also cause a loss of power and stalling. Compression is the force that pushes the piston down in the cylinder, which is necessary for the engine to run properly. If the compression is low, it will be harder for the pistons to move, which can lead to a loss of power and stalling. Clogged injectors: Fuel injectors deliver fuel to the engine in a fine mist. If the injectors are clogged, they will not be able to deliver the fuel properly, which can lead to a loss of power, stalling, and other problems. Mass air flow sensor: The mass air flow sensor measures the amount of air entering the engine. If the mass air flow sensor is faulty, it can provide the wrong information to the engine's computer, which can lead to a loss of power, stalling, and other problems. Throttle body: The throttle body controls the amount of air that enters the engine. If the throttle body is dirty or malfunctioning, it can restrict the flow of air to the engine, which can lead to a loss of power, stalling, and other problems. If you are experiencing these symptoms, it is important to have your van diagnosed by a qualified mechanic to determine the root cause of the problem. Once the cause of the problem has been identified, the mechanic can recommend the necessary repairs. Here are some tips to help prevent these problems from happening in the future: Change your spark plugs and fuel filter according to the manufacturer's recommendations. Keep your van's engine clean and well-maintained. Avoid running your van on low fuel. If you notice any problems with your van's performance, have it checked out by a qualified mechanic as soon as possible.

Why does my '88 Mercury Grand Marquis w/5.0 stall when put in gear?

I am thinking that the idle rpms are too low and the tune up is not good enough to compensate for the drop in rpms when the transmission is engaged
normal idle rpms on an automatic should be around 850rpms as they will drop 250rpms on gear selsction
any idle speed around 500 rpms will die when fear is engaged

Throttle Body Cleaning on vehicles without electronic throttle control (most 2003 and down)

You can in most cases repair this slow speed stall or unstable idle by cleaning the engine throttle valve and the idle speed control valve using a product called CRC Spray Throttle valve cleaner. Spray the cleaner into the air intake of the engine with the hose removed from the throttle body, the engine will try to stall so hold up the idle speed manually. Once you have used up about 1/2 can of the cleaner stall the engine out while spraying and turn the key off, disconnect the negative battery cable for 5 minutes and then reconnect and drive the car for a about 25 miles of varied driving modes. If this doesn't cure the problem you may need the fuel injectors professionally cleaned by the dealer service dept.

could be a bad power steering pressure sensor . This sensor inputs a signal to the PCM - engine computer when low speed an higher load on the engine ,such as turning , in return the PCM is suppose to raise the idle so it won't stall .

My 1996 GMC jimmy wants to stall when I come to a stop. The RPM gage goes up & down then drops below 1000 RPMS and stalls.

I would go down to your local auto parts store and do an alternator and battery test. It sounds like at low rpms you are loosing volts. When you apply the brakes you would be supprised how much power from the engine it takes. You could also be loosing oil pressure. Check your oil level. When your engine drops low rpm, the oil pressure drops and shuts down the engine.

I have a 91 shadow and had a similar problem. Mine is fuel injected, and the quick fix was to just go buy some fuel injector cleaner, I reccomend STP, and throw that in the gas tank every fill up for about a month. Mine hasn't had the problem since.
