Something is draining my battery 134,000 M

Drove 1/2hr to work. had to run to store a few min later. went in came out tried to start car battery was dead! my dome & dash lights started flashing. I turned off key. I could hear something still running...like my dash was ticking. Now my monsoon radio died a year ago...turns on stuck on station wont tune etc can hear static in speakers. The radio was not on. The a/c was on with fan on 3, phone charger plugged into lighter, drl lights and maybe the rear defroster. These were the only power draws. Started with a jump. Drove back to work * hrs later had to be jumped again. Drove 1/2 hr to home. Car ran fine. Made sure I had no extra draws on power..no a/c, blower, rear defrost, lighter charger, & turned my interior lights as low as they would go. etc It was night so I had my headlights on. There was no dimming of my lights so I don't think its my alternator. Please help!! I don't want to spend $89 on a new battery & ruin it too until issue is resolved. Recent repairs: 3/13 had flap kit replaced heater/ac wouldn't work, 7/13 replaced catalytic converter

forgot to list that when dash lights were flashing the shift indicator said car was in N when the car was in P. I dont know if that indicates something else.

Sounds like a dead cell in the battery. Try measuring each cell in the battery. If one is low it will act like a dead battery when you try starting it.

IT costs nothing to have a load test done on the battery to check for a dead cell which your problems point to. While the engine is running the alternator will be handling the power requirement but the battery will not supply the power required to start.

SOURCE: Very same scenario...car ran fine, then bam wouldn't start

in order of likelihood, based on what you described:
bad connection @ battery
bad batt cable or terminal end
bad battery

Car gages all turn off and than turn back on a few miles later

Do you have an aftermarket stereo system? these cause a tremendous strain on your alternator which may be the problem. Check all connections to alternator, battery, and ground cables. the alternator will provide enough power to run your vehicle if it is working properly. If it is faulty, it will drain your battery. take it to an auto parts store to be tested before purchasing a new one, because it could be as simple as a loose or corroded wire.

I have a 2003 lincoln ls it keeps running hot I replaced thermostat, radiator cap, water pump, and had lines drained. After replacing water pump and thermostat car ran fine for a month I went and got an ol...

Suspect you have a loose clamp on a radiator hose or the oil change guy made something leak. There is a tool which is similar to a a bicycle pump in that it pressurizes the water system and your engine does not have to run or be hot to test. Some major auto parts stores may have a loaner.

Its going to stay hot and lose pressure until you fix the leak.

I just bought a 2001 bmw 325ci the car had a rough idle when i drove it home and the check engine light came on. after about 10 min i took the car out the light went off i went to the gas station and...

Welcome to the world of BMW's. return the car to the seller. you got a bad one. You got an electrical short draining the battery. Bring a blank check and sign it over to the dealer. They're going to have to run through the entire electrical system to find the short. That work alone is worth more than the a used up 2001 325i.

Have a 2002 ion that sometimes wont start but if left for 10 mins will start up.

I have 2003 Saturn Ion. I had this problem over and over 2006 - 2008. IT IS THE IGNITION SWITCH. IT IS DEFECTIVE IN ALL ION'S.The replacement may be defective also, not sure. Mine was driving fine, went ino store for 1 hr came out stone cold dead, would not start and key **** in. Had to have towed to Saturn. They said it was battery and replaced battery.I said this did not make sense. 6 yr battery only 3 yr old , never weak start, never run down, in summer? It happened again 2 mo later. They tried to say battery , I said no. They checked battery. It was fine. Could not find problem. They did total electrical check. It happened again 1 mo later. drove into feed store. Went in came out it happened again. I got jump from someone 30 min later and started right up. 2 wks later same, I got jump 20 min later started. 1 mo late same. Sometimes it would just start up. Took to another Saturn place. They said Ignition switch, saturn was having big problem with this on Ions. Got changed and no problems for 1 yr. I was talking to repesentative at Saturn Headquarters. I told the problem. They said the ignition switch has an electrical component, or it is hooked to electrical component. THEY SAID IF I HAD JUST SAT THERE 20 MIN WITH KEY OFF, THE COMPUTER CHIP FOR IT WOULD HAVE RESET ITSELF WHEN IT COOLED DOWN AND I COULD HAVE STARTED IT EACH TIME. IT WAS BEST TO GET REPLACED AND NOT WORRY, BUT THIS WILL HELP YOU IN A STRESSFUL PINCH, UNTIL YOU CAN GET THE IGNITION SWITCH REPLACED. NOTE: Go to Auto Zone , O 'Reilleys, Pep Boys etc, get a repair manuel , CHILTON $ 23- $ 25 , for your year , make, model car. CHILTON IS MUCH BETTER THAN HAYES MANUEL. It is wonderful and many things you can do yourself.
