I have found with various cars that the speed the gas is pumped at makes a huge difference. Try wiggling the input nozzle around so it may be parallel to the ground, and just experiment. Or just slow down your pumping speed. Sometimes more goes in faster than the fuel tank neck can handle.

Gas pump shuts off early when fueling 2004 Dodge Ram 5.7 SLT Pickup.

My work truck does this as well. Pulling out the nozzle doesnt work either. I know it sounds wierd, but try turning the nozzle sideways or upside down when filling the tank. Works well with my work truck.....

Gas pump shuts off like its full many times while trying to refuel.

Usually a blockage in the filler tube or a vent problem.
You may have to take the filler tube off and inspect it. There should be a tube inside or outside the pipe to allow air pressure in the tank to equalize.

While filling up our 2000 Toyota Echo at the gas station the pump at the gas island keeps shutting off. Takes forever to fill the tank.

this is becoming a common problem, what is going on with your car is that as you fill the fuel tank you have to displace the air inside the tank( as the fuel goes in the air has to come out ) this is done by the purge system, as the fuel goes in the air is displaced threw a purge canaster the canster trapes any fuel vapers that are in the displaced air and as you are driving the car the vapors are burned by the engine, this canister is either pluged or the valve that opens and closes the canister is stuck so as you fill the tank the air can not get out so you get back pressure in the fill neck and this causes the pump to shut off, bottom line you need to have the purge system checked. it might be a bad canister or a bad switch could also be one of the hoses to the canaster, heres the bad news to replace almost anything on the system the fuel tank will have to be removed and that can be expenceve....sorry

When fueling my cts coupe the fuel nozzle shuts off after several seconds which takes forever to fill the tank. Last week I just thought I was using a poorly adjusted fuel nozzle, but today I used a...

Fueling it should have nothing to do with the engine light. I feel the reason the nozzle shuts off is because when you fill your tank there has to be a certain amount of air release from the tank while filling. You may have no air release causing air pressure. This air pressure will shut off the nozzle. There should be an air release line hooked to your tank I feel.

Can't get gas into my 2002 Hyundai Accent.

The reason the gas station pump shuts off is when the fuel reaches the tip of the gas nozzle, so when you are filling your car and the gas nozzle (gas stations pipe) keeps shutting off it means that the pipe that runs to the gas tank is not open completely, what happens is when you pump the gas in the car the supply pipe from the gas tank opening to the tank fills up quickly and this causes the gas station pipe nozzle to shut off, have some body take down the gas tank and have a look at the gas tank opening and also gas supply pipe that runs from the gas filler opening ( on the car body) to the gas tank. Have a look at it and please don't forget to rate the answer if it was helpful, thanks!

We have trouble filling the gas tank on our 2002 echo. The pump keeps shutting off

sorry to say, this is typical of the echo, after a couple yrs, the fill tube begins collapsing, not allowing enuff fuel flow,, your alternatives are to replacew the fill tubes, or to just pump fuel very slowly.
