On the passenger side behind the crankshaft pulley. You have to remove the serpentine belt and crankshaft pulley, which is best done through the wheel well. Removing the pulley can be quite difficult as some of these require a special puller. It may be worth the 1 hour of labor to just have a shop do it as this could consume a whole day if you don't have the tools for the job. With the crankshaft pulley off it would be wise to inspect/replace the crankshaft seal. There is also a bit of a trick installing the new sensor, it has to be aligned carefully so that the crankshaft pulley vanes hit it.

    OOPS!
    This is not correct!
"so that the crankshaft pulley vanes hit it."

It should say; "so that the crankshaft pulley vanes DO NOT hit it."

I have a 94 olds 88 royale 3.8 engine, I had the car diagnosied and all that came up was a tune up! But my check engine light is still on and the car shuts off while driving! I was told that no codes are...

These cars had a very common problem with a sensor that is mounted behind the crankshaft pulley. It is difficult for the home mechanic to change as special tools are required, but not that bad at a shop. About 200 bucks. It is called the "crankshaft position sensor". If you have this replaced, I'm certain your intermittent shut down will be fixed.

1988 Oldsmobile Delta 88' car stalls out. Coil pack might need to be replaced

Check the spark on each plug wire with a calibrated spark tester. One can be bought at most parts stores. If two plug wires that are next to each other are bad then replace coil pack. There may also be a bad ignition module. Also check the crankshaft position sensor.
