Instrument panel going haywire... 1st started when fuel gauge stopped working, maybe. Now nothing works on the panel, and when it does, it's all crazy lights going on and off and high beam light on when on low beam, neither day running lights nor high beam work at all... still cranks and runs...strange... fuses? body control module? other wiring?

Not fuses or BCM, I think you have a bad cluster-the panel itself.

SOURCE: The lights on my dash board flicker on and off then turn off.

I had the same problem some time ago, lights would go on and off, odometer appeared to stop counting at times rpm gauge would work and then not... power steering would off and on work and head lights would blink on and off when in driving light mode (off position).. The fix for me was I had to have the dash computer replaced (about $500). After doing this around 50k miles ago all the gremlins seem to have remained gone.. Hope this helps

SOURCE: High beam and Daylight running lights dont work

Does the green daytime indicator flash when you shift into gear?
If so, one or both high beam bulbs are burned out.

I have an F550 that the instrument cluster is going haywire. All the “dummy“ lights are on, the speedo, tach, temp, and fuel gauges does not work but the oil pressure and battery gauges do. Here’s the fun...

Do loaded circuit voltage testing at instrument cluster connecter's . You need a wiring diagram so you know what wire's to check.

Driving

The problem original would have been the battery failure but if you had the jump start done incorrectly then the resultant power surge may have knocked out the cpu unit and that is why nothing works properly. Try having the cpu reset by a fault code reader and keep your fingers crossed. You may be lucky

Instrument panel guages work one day the not the next, whats the problem?

It's tach, not tack, short for tachometer. Were these gauges installed by unionized people? It could have been the gauges' day off, as per their collective agreement.
Most instrument panel woes are caused by bad grounds. Most panels are below the front glass, and if this leaks, guess where the water goes? Dashboard problems are a bear to fix sometimes, and costly in terms of labor. Have someone steal the car.

I've got a 1991 BMW 525i which has done 253,000 km. It's been a good car but, the instrument panel on the dashboard has gone silly over the past couple of weeks. When I first start the car in the morning,...

this is just a rough guess, but i think it would be the battery or the alternator. Some part store have testers that they will check both for free.

Instrument panel cluster gauges and odometer has stopped working

I had all my analog instrument panel gauges stop working after they did the state emissions test. I found the proper fuse in the fuse block located under the hood. Simply unplugged the fuse, noticed it was still good, and plugged the same fuse (10A) back in and all the gauges started working again. Guess it needed a reset atfer they plugged in for the emissions.
