Run fault codes to find out the reason the engine light came on. If you have fixed it then use the fault code reader to reset the cpu.

SOURCE: I have 2002 Dodge Caravan Sport, check engine light came

could have a crank or camshaft sensor. is this van a flex fuel if so it could be:

1. Check the alcohol percentage using a scan tool.

2. If more than 35%, disconnect the battery and rub the cables together to reset alcohol percent.

3. Replace the upstream O2 sensor.

How do I turn off the "maintenance needed" light on my dashboard?

This procedure is suppose to be done buy a service tech that has changed you engine's oil. If they have forgotten and you want to reset the light, then it is acceptable. The procedure is easy. Step one:(with the key out of the ignition) gently press and hold in the mileage reset button. Step two: (Still holding the button in) slide the ignition key into the ignition and turn the key to the run position (do not start the engine) Step: wait 10seconds and you will see the "Maintenance Light" go out. Now let the button go. Step five: turn the ignition key back to off and the Maintenance Needed light is now reset. I hope that helps, let me know, good luck.

Oil Light blinked instead of check engine

Interesting. It could be that the circuits are shorted out inside the instrument cluster. The oil light should be on when oil pressure drops below 5psi. Oil level in the engine would not have a direct effect on the warning light unless the engine was empty.

My check engine light on my 2007 Grand Caravan came on the other day. I have checked the gas cap, what else can I check before I end up bringing it into the shop and waste money? Someone mentioned...

Your next step should be to check the code to see what if causing the check engine light to come on. most manufacturers have a simple way to check the code without needing to drive it to the shop. For Caravans, its very easy.

Put your key in the ignition. Turn the key to the on (but not all the way to the start position). Then turn it back a step to the ACC position. Do this quickly, a total of three times. On your dash, where your mileage usually is, you should see a number flash. Write this down. Use this error code to search for what it could be.

Resetting is only good if someone did work and forgot to reset it (changed your oil and didn't reset, for example).

Oil maintenece light is on. Oil level is good. Could a clogged filter make this light go on?

This should only be indicating time for an oil change. Now, if the red, check engine light comes on, then you have an oil/engine problem.

Possibly the maintenance light wasn't reset when the last change was done. If you don't have the owners manual to check, I found a referenced method (below) to reset it through AMSOIL synthetic oil products. Good Luck

To reset Engine Oil light. Turn the ignition key to RUN with the engine off. Fully press and release the accelerator pedal three times within five seconds. If the Change Engine Oil light is flashing, the system is reset. The light will flash for up to 30 seconds or until the ignition is turned off. If the light comes on again and stays on for 30 seconds at the next ignition cycle, it did not reset. You will need to reset the system again.

Engine service light stays on after servicing

I am going to assume that you do not mean the Check engine light that would trip DTC's.

To reset the service light turn the ignition to the on position (without starting the motor) and push the brake pedal three times within 5 seconds. Light should turn off. This is the procedure for 1999 Caravans and I suspect the 2000 is the same.

I have 2002 Dodge Caravan Sport, check engine light came

If it where me I would start considering the only common part between all these effected systems. The ECM although the dealer should be able to say for sure. They have a machine that actually replaces the ECM and can simulate all the sensors. I had to say it but you may need to take it to a dealer for complete diagnostics and repair since the machine is a dealer only type machine.

How it reset service engine light

Is it the "oil change req." light? Your owners manual will have the process for reseting the oil change light.
If it is "service engine soon" light, the vehicle will need to be scanned with a professional scanner.
