    1999 Ford Taurus

Was hit on driver side rear wheel area.

Now it will now go into 2nd or 3rd, only 1st and reverse.

Could it be a relay that could be located above that wheel well?

Hi,
Does it do the same behavior when in 4WD LOW or 4WD High? If so, it's the transfer case or possible the front or rear differential.

My 97 ford taurus transmission shifts fine but it will not go in to the over drive and the o,d light blinks off and on what do I do?

The OD light flashing is usually a sign the TC is overheating. I know it will come on when the ATX fluid hits 300F.

Coasting in neutral will cook a TC if done for very long. This is because the TC is spinning at a relatively higher engine speed but the tranny pump is not putting out enough fluid to keep it cool.

A locked TC is always better for the tranny and full power output. An unlocked TC is wasting energy churning up the fluid and causing a parasitic drag.

Once tranny fluid has reached this temp it is junk and should be changed. If you don't then it gets worse and worse and soon the tranny will fail.

Start with changing the filter and fluid and check for shifting issues after that. If it is shifting to O/D and clean, you have fixed the problem. If not, it could be a solenoid problem, a torque converter problem or worse. That is when your real work begins. Let's just hope the problem is the fluid is not flowing properly and the filter and fluid replacement fixes the problem.

I have a 95 taurus and it originally had transmission problems I changed the tranny mount and it drove fine now it want come from 1st gear I recently changed the rear passenger mount and it briefly drove...

You have 3 mounts
They all need to be good

The mounts have very little to do
with the shifting

You have to adjust the cable at the throttle body,
for line pressure.

96 Ford Taurus GL Revving problem when stop then go

Did you check the transmission fluid again. You could have a major leak. Or reving the car up so high it started to burn the clutches in your transmission, resulting in replacing the transmission. Always check the fluid. A few dollars for fluid is better than 1500 bucks for a new tranny
