Code po717 refers to turbine shaft speed (TSS) sensor-no signal===causes --wiring--TSS sensor--TCM/ECM .Replace the sensor first .
My 99 Passat 1.8t is in limp mode & has trouble code: P0717 input/turbine speed sensor circuit no signal. Does anyone here know exactly where the faulty sensor is actually located on the car? I just can't for the life of me find any info anywhere that tells me exactly where it is on the car. Is it on the outside of the transmission somewhere? Or will i have to take the transmission apart to get to it?
Thanks very much for your help.

SOURCE: input/turbine speed sensor circuit
Your speed sensor, is located on top of the transaxle, near the starter. To access it, remove the battery, then remove the battery tray (4 10mm bolts). You will see wires coming from the lower oxygen sensor, and they snap into the bracket that holds the speed sensor in place. The actual speed sensor has a 2 wire clip on it, and is held in place by the bracket and a 10mm bolt.

I WOULD TRY REPLACING THE INPUT SPEED SENSOR..A DEFECTIVE SPEED SENSOR CAN CAUSE ALL OF THESE FAULTS..IT IS LOCATED IN FRONT OF TRANS ABOVE SOLENOID PACK..IT IS THE ONE CLOSEST TO THE ENGINE..IT SCREWS INTO TO TRANSMISSION..A 1 INCH SOCKET FITS IT..ALSO CHECK WIRING TO BOTH SPEED SENSORS..A SENSOR IS ABOUT 35 BUCKS,AVAILABLE AT YOUR LOCAL DODGE DEALER..GET A NEW ONE AND YOU'LL SEE WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE..FAIRLY COMMON PROBLEM..HAVE REPLACED LOTS OF THEM
