The first step is to see if the regulator is bad, to check this grab glass and try to move up and down. if the glass moves then you have a regulator problem.
if glass does not move you may have a window motor problem. you will need to remove the door panel and with a test light you will check and see if there is power at the motor while pressing the up or down button, there should be power on one wire when up is pressed and then power on the other wire when pushing button down, up there is power you may have a bad motor.

a quick motor test would be with door panel off and hold down button and bang with your hand on door in area of motor and if window starts to work then motor is worn and needs replacing. good day....

My 1997 Ford Taurus driver side window won't power up. It makes a clicking sound when button is engaged, but nothing happens. The other windows work. How can I repair it?

First thing I would do is check the switch for corroded contacts. You should be able to remove the switch panel with just a couple screws, it may also just pop out of the handle.

When you take the button apart and the metal contacts look good then you probably have a burnt out motor. This is very common, window motors are usually the first things to go, almost every car I've owned I've had to replace the window motors (about 10-15 years old).

The motor is fairly easy to replace, you just have to take the door panel off with a few screws and a bit of prying, then the new motor/track should bold right into place of the old one. If you need more help just reply to my solution.

1997 Ford Taurus - automatic windows The passenger side front window and driver side rear window won't open. The other two windows are working OK. Any suggestions?

nothing is common between these two windows that wound NOT affect the other two so with the information you provided it sounds like a defective master window switch

replace with a known good or do the following...
Remove the master switch
disconnect the harness from the switch
provide a good power to the harness pin #3 white/yellow
provide a good ground to the harness pin #4 tan/lt blue

again, assuming all the other window work with all the other switches then again it sounds like the master switch is the cause

Drivers door power window control stopped working.power mirrors won,t work interior lights want come on when you open drivers door but the other three doors interior lights come and the power window...

Since it is only happening on the drivers side door to multiple switches and lights on that door only, I think the problem is the wiring harness as it enters the drivers door by the door hinges.

Ford taurus- all windows work fine but only from drivers side

I had a similar problem with windows not working. Went into the dealer and he told me in all honesty it more than likely was electrical and would be very expensive. There is a motor under the door panel covering. He didn't undo anything, but gave the door a good whack with his hand in a couple of places - kind of down under the armrest - and presto they work. Probably a worn spot on the motor he said. It has happened a coupld more times and I give it a whack and so far it works. That's been several years now. Worth a try I say!
