On most cars it comes with the new pump as a module but on some other cars you can buy pump only. this depends on the year, make and model and also the condition of the sending unit, if it works okay and is not rusted or breaking apart then why not reuse it.

SOURCE: po463 fuel level sensor circuit voltage too high. how to fix

Hello. There are several possible causes of your issue. Replacing parts to find the root cause is an expensive route for you. Why not drive to an AAMCO and have them give you the free computer scan which may pinpoint the issue. On the otherhand, nothing may show up. To prevent running out of fuel be sure to maintain a log of fuel use. Good luck. Joe

SOURCE: fuel level sensor isnt working

No.You should be able to get a fuel level sensor separate depending on year and make of your vehicle.I could look it up for you but you did not state your year ,make ,and engine size.Don`t know if you an get this part at any part stores but I almost positive you an get at any GM dealership.I`ve replaced these before without replacing the complete fuel module sending unit.Hope this helps.Good luck.

SOURCE: 2001 Buick Century. Fuel gauge didn't work.

I had a Grand Prix one time (basically the same car) that had a problem with the fuel pump harness. This harness plugs into the top of the fuel pump as you know, and into the floorboard underneath the car. Check the floorboard end for corrosion or broken wires.

SOURCE: fuel level sensor

It is located on the fuel pump module which is located in the fuel tank. The fuel tank will need to be removed from the vehicle in order to service the fuel level sensor/sending unit.

I bought a new aftermarket fuel pump. now the gas gauge doesn't function. It's supposed to be plug and play???

Most fuel pumps today are sold as module assemblies which includes the hanger, pump and level sensor. The level sensor is the device used to report the fuel level to the fuel gauge. Fuel level sensors work by attaching a float to the fuel level sensor arm; when the fuel level lowers so does the float which in turn moves the sensor arm and changes the signal. Level sensor floats can be rather bulky when attached to the level sensor arm so often times they are not pre-installed at the time of the part sale. Once the new part is removed from the box, the float (whether a new one is provided or simply removed from the original unit) must be installed onto the new level sensor arm prior to fuel pump module assembly installation. If a float is not installed, the metal level sensor arm will not be suspended at the fuel level which results in an "empty" fuel gauge reading. Had fuel level sensor replaced few years ago. today fuel gauge needle does not move and is positioned below the empty point. any ideas what may cause this?

It could be any one or more of this list:
Fuel level sensor. Just because you replaced it once, doesn't mean it's still good.
Connection to fuel sensor
Broken wire between fuel sensor and gauge
Broken wire between battery and fuel sensor/gauge
Bad gauge

Where is the fuel level sensor located on a 2005 chevey malibu??

the sensor is on the gas tank-if you remove the rear bench seat, there is an access plate to get to the top of the tank. Located under that is the fuel pump/fuel sensor level sensor. Remove the o-ring and lift the assembly out. On a scale of 1 to 10 (10 being the most difficult) it is a 3 or 4, tops.

Hi. the fuel pressure sensor is part of the fuel pump assembly. You will have to remove the fuel pump to replace this. I would go ahead and replace the fuel pump while you are there. You will have to Pull the strainer off the fuel pump and discard it. remove the retaining clip for the fuel pressure regulator so that you can remove the fuel pressure regulator. Disconnect the electrical connections for the fuel pumps and the fuel level sensor. Remove the retaining clip for the fuel level sensor and remove the fuel level sensor by squeezing the locking tangs. the sensor is incorporated in this area.

    Please rate and god bless.
