It sounds like your points or igniter is not sending a signal to the coil to fire it. I don't know what type of distributor you're using but something has to tell the coil when to fire, or it won't.
It could be a relay that keeps the fuel pump running when the ignition switch is in the run position. My jeep had this problem, where the pump gets power in the start position but once the key returns to run, the engine shortly stops running because the pressure in the fuel line drops off as it is used by the running engine, it usually died within 3 seconds. my relay was under hood and there were several of the same type in there, I switched the fuel system one with the one for my AC(which only blows hot anyway) Hope this helps...
you can run this motor carburated if you want by purchasing an after market conversion intake and carburator setup. if you want to leave it fuel injected you will need to swap wiring harnes and everything, computers and sensors you will have to run manual guages for the temp sensors and oil pressure guage and alternator due to your speedo being unable to accept them.
Are you sure that your timing is set right. This will make it sound like this, also if the valves are not adjusted right will make alot of noise. The person who rebuilt the motor should stand behind his/her work!!!???
Timing at idle (degrees BTDC) 0 federal and 4 California (chapter 5, page 183, Haynes Chevy and Gmc pick-ups manual 1967 thru 1987) If you have any othe questions I have the manual, I have an 86 k10 4x4 w/350.
It does not sound like a timing issue because it only misfires when hot... sounds like choke adjustment ... if its elec... rotate cover of choke so it is leaner. Hope this helps
if they r right then what else could be wrong
