1995 saturn sl2 when putting it into drive it slames real hard then it is slow going till the rpms get up then its fine any thoughts?

Check coolant temp sensor.

i have the same prblm 92 sl2 auto 140k. maybe we need new cars. from what i been reading valve body assembly needs replaced.

i'm just going to go slow and avoid hills.

i have the same prblm 140k. i changd plugs, pvc, fuel fltr.. the problm is in the ******. i will chng atf and filter. if this does not solve prblm, it might be ****** valve body. ****** work $$$$$$$. i'm going to run it till it won't move no more than scrap it. i rpl ****** 3 yrs ago $800 (used ******).

well if it shifts very hard into every gear that means the pressure control solenoid in the trans went bad and it causing the trans to go to max line pressure thats why it shifts so hard,,,it does that so you can still drive it even thou it broken,anyhow the PC solenoid is under the trans pan which is on the TOP of the trans under the battery,,,,not too hard a job to do, the parts are about $100 labor might be about $200,,,easy fix,,could be alot more,,,and if you dont fix it ,it will break other stuff in the trans and cost alot more,,,

no it does not you have to hold the clutch down and when you hear the rpms kick back you put it into 5th or watever

Take it to a garage before you toast your catalytic converter so you can get it properly diagnosed.. This is not a minor issue if you neglect getting it diagnosed

Yes, with another transmission...they have a problem with the valve body going bad. Go with a junk yard trany. Just make sure that it has low mileage. $700 is a ball park figure...$700 for labor.

The idle air control motor is likely the problem. It is located on the throttle body. Also be sure to check any and all vacuum lines while it is doing this. If you hear a hissing noise, try to find out where it is coming from.

Saturn says and I quote

there transmission fluid is not to be changed after the first change at 6000 miles.

Now I say it should be changed at every 30000 miles. If changing out the fluid doesn't work then you need to go to a transmission repair shop.

sounds like a bent shift lever.
