It seems like P1684 is a com problem with the modules. As far as your cyl. #1 misfire try switching the coil, plug and see if the problem follows to the cyl. you swapped plug and coil with, this will help issolate the cause. Also look for oil accumulation in the plug hole, cracked coil, arcking through the plug boot.

all codes are OBDll and are available on line free. personally I would replace battery. Batteries often fail during the summer, but appear during winter as it takes more power to start cat.

I have 1999 intrepid what does the codes p 1684 @ p 0700 mean

Trouble code P1684 means: The battery has been disconnected within the last 50 starts . The trouble code P0700 is a trans code fault prolly because of the drop in voltage.
the battery code is a result from a failing alternator, battery, coroded terminals or lines in between. the P0700 is a trans code fault because of the drop in voltage. this will also cause the car to go into "limp mode" (why your car is stuck in the 3-4k rpm range). you will not get past second gear while attempting to drive. if you do try, you will more than likely blow the engine.

you can disconnect the negative terminal of the jump post for a few minutes to clear the codes. if the battery or alt is bad, they will simply return. get the alt and battery tested--most auto parts stores do this for free. this will help eliminate the electrical system as culprit.
Thanks. you can rate this solution and show your appreciation.
