SOURCE: I am getting code P0171 system to lean, bank 1 ??

Bank 1 is the cylinder bank that has #1 in it. In your case I believe it is the cylinder bank at the front of the car, number 1 cylinder is to the far left looking at it from the front. The system lean condition could be caused by a leaking intake manifold gasket or a simple O2 sensor that is reading just out of range but not enough to trip a code for a faulty sensor.

SOURCE: got code p0171 system too lean (bank 1)

This is probably referring to problems with your bank 1 oxygen sensor.  Without the vehicle make, model and year I can't tell you where it is located.  However, if you replace your front oxygen sensor that should clear up the problem.  Also, if you do replace it, I always run some fuel injector cleaner through a full tank of gas at the same time.  Hope this helps!

SOURCE: codes P0171, P0174, P0440

This is usually an oxygen sensor, replace the O2 sensor located above the catalytic converter before replacing the evaporator purge canister.

SOURCE: I have a 1998 malibu with the code p0171 system to

what this means is bank one is running weak ,this is caused by a problem with the O2 sensor on this side of the engine now a lot of more modern vehicles use two sensors one before the cat and one after the cat ,they are situated in the exhaust down pipe ,now iam not familiar with this vehicle so i cannot say if it has one or two sensors but put you head under the bonnet and see what is waht if it has two sensors then change the one after the cat first ,now their are four wires on a sensor and two of the colours are the same so disconect the plug and test the sensor for continuety on the two wires the same colour ,now if the continuety is ok this means the heater circuit is working ,now the other two wires will show the voltage over time but you will a special meter to check this like a automotive test meter which measures frequency and dwell which i doubt you have so just check the heater circuit on each sensor on the bank 1 and if in doubt just change them for a universal type and in the box comes a diagram on what colour wires go to the appropiate connection on the wiring loom as you will have to cut the plug off and use a strip type block connector unless you buy originals which are expensive compared to auto factor replacements .

P0146 pd means pending code
Pending codes and DTCs? Posted on November 12, 2010 by fcrmaster
When reading codes from your vehicle the fault code reader may show them as pending codes or normal Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTC).
Pending codes (also known as continuous monitor codes) will be registered when an intermittent fault occurs. If that fault does not happen again after x number of start/stop cycles, the ECU will erase the code from memory. If the fault is persistent it becomes a DTC.
If you have read pending codes it is advisable to check the codes again after a week or so. If there is no apparent problem with the vehicle it is safe to erase the codes too and check back. But always make a note of any fault codes with the date and mileage of a vehicle.
If the codes read include a DTC then you need to investigate further. This you can either do yourself or advise your garage. If, again, you don't see an apparent problem (depending n the severity of the code) with the vehicle you can note the codes down and erase them. Then check again after a week or a few days depending on how often the vehicle gets used. If a repair has been made (previous owner) the DTC may just not have been reset after the repair.
The other numbers behind the code 01/06 , 02/06, 03/06 , 05/06 ,04/06 These don't mean anything . cheap code reader .

Sorry but this is something you should take to a qualified repair shop that has a diagnostic tool that can view sensor scan data.

An Engine Light came on the dashboard of my 2003 Ford Windstar. The code came up saying p0171 (Fuel System too lean.(Cylinder bank 1) What does this mean?

P0171=System Too Lean Bank 1,
not cylinder 1,it means the oxygen sensor on the drivers side exhaust was stuck on lean and set a code.
doesn't mean you need to change the oxygen sensor yet, first clear the code and see if it corrected its self.
