My 1993 caddy seville sts has a dead computer( the one that mechanics use to hook up to read the codes). Will this cause my transmission not to shift out of gear? or drive terribley? My car cranks up/drives and everthing, but sounds lke the engine is racing and the rpms go really high.
You should check out www.reliable-store.com they have info on repair, service, wiring diagram, electrical diagram, fuse diagram, torque specs, troubleshooting,
PCV, gear box, owner's/service/repair/parts manual, fault codes, error codes, etc everything on all vehicles. must check it out

Good price-
Pay $20 and have a mechanic go take a look at the car- if you have a good mechanic, they will gladly go (for compensation of course) and give you an estimate based on a looksee and the comments of the dealer.
Than you can access the total price and value to determine if it suits you.
Besides cash, you can also tell the mechanic that you'll use him exclusively for service in the future.

you need to have a pulley puller to get the pulley off if you don't have one most auto zone part stores have a loan a tool program and they can help you with that on most powersteering pumps the high pressure line will be a fitting or bolt on and the return line is usually just a squeeze clamp hope this helps good luck

on my 1998 Deville its located in the trunk. the panel thats is butted up to the back of the rear seat. look for some black nuts around the top of rim of the trunk, they are about 1'' long, these have to be removed first... good luck.....

the answer is yes, the trans shifting is controlled by the computer*(known as a PCM), but if the PCM were defective the car would not start, sounds like your computer is not the problem and a burned out trans is.
