My 2001 nissan sentra won't start. Dash board light will still light up, but the car won't turn over. Made sure all the connections on the battery were tight and tried jumping it. Let it charge for a while and tested to see that the battery was getting the extra amps. Still didn't turn over. Is my starter bad or do I need to try something else?

SOURCE: car starts with jump and drives but wont start by itself

well if the altenator is charging it will run after getting a jump, you replied you put a battery charger on it but that dont mean the cold cranking amps are good or it could have a dead cell. I would have the battery tested for sure. If you didnt drive far after jump the altenator may be bad but having the battery charged and still does it tells me it is least likely. If the battery tests good the cables could be corroded under the sheath where you cant see. There are other reasons but from what you have posted sounds like you need a battery most auto stores test them for free (load test also)

SOURCE: Turn the key the my Nissan Quest 1996 and no

Reading voltage on a battery dosen't mean much, it's the amperage that counts. Hook up jumper cable to your battery, now quickly touch th other ends together. You should get a snap and large spark. If this dosen't happen, you battery or connection are bad.

Make sure you have the plug wires on the correct plug. Check the ignition timming to make sure it is correct. After running for a few minutes pull the pluggs to see whitch cylinders are running rich. The fuel pressure and volume need to be tested.

I have a 2001 nissan sentra, it will turn over but wont start. no lights on dash, and cant get gear out of park. What could be the problem?

Weak battery? Maybe try a jumpstart from another vehicle. If it's turning over just fine, you may have a fuel delivery problem. If fuel is ok, it could be a spark problem. No lights on the dash is why I suspect the battery. It could also be a blown fuse for the lights.
