Electrical problem i have a jeep grand cherokee 2001 all of my inside lights wont go off,had to pull the fuse to get them off,and my break lights do not work at all when the headlights are on but will work when they are off. please help thanks.
Jeep Grand Cherokee 4.0L Friend of mine has a similar problem of battery going flat. There is a short somewhere. I suspect a plug/socket connector or broken core giving a short on the tail gate or one of the doors.Where the wiring loom bends the insulation fractures and shorts to other cores giving feedback power to other electrical devices.
Faults: rear window opens, seats move without key in ignition, alarm goes off, LCD above windscreen/winshield only comes on ocassionally
I would suspect the boot/trunk/tail gate door or the drivers door wiring loom related to the central locking/electric windws cable cores.
Please respond with your findings and advise where I can get a wiring diagram Thanks Adie [email protected] Hi

I don't want to alarm you but this sounds like it could be a switch located in the steering column. Try pulling your high beams off and on real fast and see if it clears up. Don't take my word on it but toss it around with a dealer and see if they'll acknowledge it.

all the same day? check all fuses first. as always for electrical.
is only the fuel gauge and only the windows failing , all windows failing and at all locations.. sounds to me this is cumulative failures not all at once, right?
check the fuses. then again
the best fuse test is with a volt meter , key on, 12vdc on both sides, not 0volts.
send best is to check them for 0 ohms (not infinity ) pulled.
fuses that look bad are bad.
fuses that look good can in fact have hair line cracks a human can not see.
tell more, get more. I have full doc;s on jeeps.
look under dash follow the brake peddel up you will see the metal arm riding on a switch it needs ajusted so the peddle arm pushes the butten in.rodger....
there's a possibility that it might be the socket that the bulb actually goes into. my break light did something similar to that. the socket only cost about 8 bucks from the dealer.
First thing to do is chk. the fuse for break lights, if thats ok, than i would say its the break light switch. As far as the right taillight, that could be as simple as a bad bulb.
check the fuse for it, it maybe because its to big an keeps blowin them. an when you replace one side go ahead an replace the other side as well this should keep from blowin them.
