pull the starter and take it to an auto electrician for a bench test and check
indicates a problem commutator bar or solenoid connection across the internal terminals of the solenoid
Please read the question, it has nothing to do with the car not starting... The questions is WHY won't the trans shift into overdrive )
It's an intermittent problem and probably a sticky OD solenoid in the trans or maybe temp sensor in cooling system etc.
But my point here is please read the question and answer accordingly instead of going off on a tangent and wasting ppls time!
My sincere apologies for the delayed response. I am personally going back to answer your unanswered questions. I do not know if you still need this information, but I am going ahead and answering it anyway. You may want to Print the Diagrams for future use.
I am unsure if this is the only problem with the kick down cable but you may need to remove the bottom pan of the transmission to be able to disconnect or reconnect if you cant access it the change the kick down cable from the outside the transmission.
It sounds like the rotor button is not making a good connetion. i recommend replacing the distributor cap and rotor button to be safe. It is a cheap solution.
