Battery light is on on my 1995 f250 5.8 the truck has a gauge as well the gauge is running where it always has. their is no parasitic draw their was until I changed the alternator with a bad diode. The battery is a brand new interstate test at 12.65 when truck is running it shows 14.55 from alternator at battery. all engine compartment fuses receive voltage and have continuity. I recently changed the TPS and airflow regulator.

SOURCE: alternator light on

The alternator is not producing any power . If it were the engine would run without the battery. Check the wiring on the alternator. It must ave an exciter wire to make it work.

With Ign. off what is your batt.voltage reading than take neg. cable off and take another reading 5 min. later. It sounds like a intermitten short, try to isolate voltage drop when acting up. Gauge circuit would be a good start. Schematic would be helpful.

2008 Land Rover battery keeps dieing. Change battery, change alternator

If it dies while the truck is sitting turned off, then you have an active circuit in the truck which should not be on (e.g. glove box or underhood light). To find the cause, an ammeter on one of the battery cables will show you a current drain and you can then pull fuses until the drain stops to find which circuit it is.
If the battery is draining while the truck is running, it is not charging properly. This usually means the battery is shot (even a new one - do a load test) or the alternator regulator is faulty or you have a wiring/grounding problem in the charging circuit.

2009 CX-7 keep have issues with not starting. Battery is drained, battery holds a charge and alternator is fine. What is doing this?

You have a draw on the battery somewhere. The easiest way I have found to locate a draw is to remove the negative battery cable and put a 12v test light in between the cable end and the battery post. If you have a draw the light should light bright. A dim light is normal due to parasitic draw. You can now remove circuit breakers and fuses until the light goes dim. This will give you a starting point as to what circuit needs looked at. I always start with removing the main wire going to the alternator. The alternator can still charge while it is pulling all of the power when the engine is not running if the right diode goes out.

Battery runs down over night.

A glove box light will drain a battery over night or it could be a bad diode in your alternator. Disconnect the red wire from the alternator and check with a volt meter.

Why won't my battery keep a charge on my 1995 Buick lesabre

There are really only three answers to this, 1.The battery is defective (have it load tested) 2. The battery charging system in the car is defective (have that tested as well) 3. You have a parasitic draw from some light or other thing that is left on, visor lights are a common source of this type of draw.

I have a 1995 camry 220sei auto and the battery runs down every night. have to take off terminal every night or car wont start.car elect cant solve problem

Your vehicle is exhibiting a parasitic draw on the battery. Something such as a light inside the glove compartment is staying on when the keys are taken from the ignition. To deduce the root cause of the problem using a 12 volt test light, disconnect the negative battery terminal and ground test light to battery terminal post and probe the loose cable end. This should be done with the keys removed from the ignition and all known electrical loads off. If the draw exists your test light should illuminate under these conditions. Next go about the car and search for the source of the draw. Once you have identified and eliminated the draw your test light should stay off.

1995 GMC Jimmy will just cut off while driving it. Had it looked at and after sitting a few weeks at repair center..they said I needed an altinater. Then I had to replace battery. Something is still...

If something is draining the battery you have a parasitic draw on the electrical system . There are a couple ways of testing for this . GM insturment clusters can cause this problem as well as a module not powering down . Really don't think electrical wire burnt problem . The car would catch fire an burn up.

Battery will not stay charged, it has been replaced, the belts tightened, and the alternator has been checked and is working properly. yet every few days the battery will start to go down?

You need to test the vehicle for key off draw. Do you have an ammeter? If not you should be able to take it to a shop that does and they can do this test. If you have one, let me know and I'll walk you thru the test.
