Transmission leak 320 clk 2000 just had seal done etc, not tightened up properly............. im going to drain oil and replace whats the best oil to use ie availble from a shop now and how much does it take to fill as my dipstick is missing
Hi,
Joe here to help,
The ONLY oil you should use is Mercedes transmission oil. As far as how much to put back in, 4 qts if you do it right away, 4.5 qts. if you let it drain a while.

Thanks for choosing FixYa and welcome. Your computer will not pick this up. It only picks up information from the information sensors in the vehicle. If you think you are leaking oil, I would suggest climbing under the car because you will see it if you do. Over time, bolts can come loose on the engine and need tightened. Oil can leak out of these places. You may want to check the bolts. You may have a bad seal causing a oil leak.
You must get transmission service done. it will replace the pilot bush in your transmission your car have a 5 speed tiptronic transmission it's need to get transmission service done at every 65000km otherwise you will get problem. seems to be leaking from pilot bush.
yes is a problem ,depends where oil is leaking from you might wanna tighten the oil pan screws and if persist after that the leak might be coming from your rear seal of transmission
Yes it is dangerous in that it will damage your motor and transmission. The engine oil is the easy solution. You can simply elevate the vehicle and remove the drain plug and drain off the oil and get it lower than what is needed then top off to proper level. The transmission is a bigger problem. Draining the transmission is more difficult in that there are really on two ways that are feasible to do it and the best way depends on where that fill/check is located. I recommend going to auto Zone and getting an oil test pump unit. They come in two designs. One is more of a pump with a bottle connected to it and the other is a large surenge and hose type, this is the cheaper of the two. Essentially you will run a small hose into the hole that your dip stick comes out of and use the pump or Surenge to **** the excess fluid out of the transmission. Your other option for draining off the transmission is to loosed the bolts on the transmission pan and to break the seal. This of course will require you to replace the seal so you don't develop a leak. The down side to this is the fact that you will end up draining all the fluid and have to refill the transmission from being empty. Unlike the engine there is no drain on teh transmission pan.
Make sure the shift cable is working properly at the shifter and the transmission if you have good action then check the transmission oil (make sure you use honda synthetic oil or the car will shift hard) if they get low on oil they will send the shavings through the shift solenoids you can try to drain the transmission oil with the drain plug. (there is not a serviceable transmission filter )take the solenoids off and clean the screen in them but more then likely you will have to dissasemble the trans. The trick to these transmissions is never let them run low on oil or they get contaminated with the clutch shavings that go into the shift solenoids.they are famous for leaking axle seals if you get it working check your axle seals and replace them if they are leaking
If equipped with a drain plug, drain the transmission fluid.
If necessary, remove the bolts and position aside the range selector cable bracket for clearance while lowering the pan. It is not necessary to remove the cable from the lever or bracket.
Remove the catalytic converter.
Remove the oil pan bolts from the front and sides of the pan only.
Loosen the rear oil pan mounting bolts about 4 turns.
Lightly tap the oil pan with a rubber mallet in order to loosen the pan and allow the fluid to drain.
Remove the remaining oil pan bolts.
Remove the oil pan and the gasket.
Remove the filter by twisting and pulling on it.
Remove and discard the filter seal. The filter seal may be stuck in the pump; if necessary, carefully use pliers or another suitable tool to remove the seal.
Clean the transmission and the oil pan sealing surfaces with solvent, and air dry. You must remove all traces of the old gasket material.
To Install:
Coat the new filter seal with transmission fluid.
Install the new filter seal into the transmission case. Tap the seal into place using a suitable size socket.
Install the new filter.
Install the oil pan and new gasket. Tighten the bolts alternately and evenly to 97 lb in (11 Nm).
Install the catalytic converter.
If previously removed, install the range selector cable bracket and bolts. Tighten the bolts to 18 lb ft (25 Nm).
Apply a small amount of sealant GM P/N 12346004 (Canadian P/N 10953480), or equivalent to the threads of the oil pan drain plug, if equipped.
Install the oil pan drain plug, if equipped. Tighten the plug to 13 lb ft (18 Nm).
Lower the vehicle.
Fill the transmission to the proper level with DEXRON® III transmission fluid.
Check the COLD fluid level reading for initial fill only.
Place a drain pan under the transmission oil pan. Drain the transmission fluid and install the plug. Tighten the drain plug to 13 lb ft (18 Nm).
Support the transmission with a transmission jack.
Remove the transmission crossmember.
Disconnect the range selector cable end from the transmission range selector lever ball stud.
NOTE: It is not necessary to remove the selector cable from the bracket.
Remove the transmission range selector cable bracket. Reposition the bracket and cable.
Remove the oil pan bolts.
NOTE: The transmission oil pan gasket is reusable. Replace as needed.
Remove the oil pan and gasket.
Remove the magnet from the bottom of the pan, if necessary.
Remove the oil filter and neck seal.
To Install:
Clean the transmission and the oil pan sealing surfaces with solvent.
Install the filter neck seal and filter.
Install the oil pan gasket to the pan.
Install the magnet into the bottom of the pan, if necessary.
Install the oil pan and bolts. Tighten the oil pan bolts to 18 lb ft (24 Nm).
Install the transmission range selector cable bracket. Tighten the bolts to 18 lb ft (25 Nm).
Connect the range selector cable end to the transmission range selector lever ball stud.
Install the transmission crossmember. Tighten the fasteners to 70 lb ft (95 Nm).
Install the transmission mount nuts. Tighten the nuts to 30 lb ft (40 Nm).
Remove the transmission jack.
Lower the vehicle.
Fill the transmission to the proper level with DEXRON® III transmission fluid.
The plug should have a nylon washer on it that prevents leakage. If you are all finished and it's not leaking than you have done well. If you have a leak there, first check to see if the washer is there and not cracked, If it is get another washer. Sometimes using a wrap of teflon tape on the threads will help if washer is good but still leaks. Don't wrap entire thread though...only the half closest to the head. If any tape gets into the unit it can play hell with the valve body.
Usually its an oil and filter change, replace key fob batteries, wiper blades and top up screen washer tank plus a check on the operation of all safety components e.g brakes, tyres, steering. Dependant on time since last service and total mileage they might change the brake and coolant fluid. There is usually a list of operations in the sevice booklet if you have one.
