I have a 99 dodge intrepid 2.7 eng with a overheating problem. The fans turn on when i remove the plug from the sensor. But when i plug it back it turns off and the temp rises again. I changed the temp sensor but it still wont activate the fans when the car reaches almost have way instead it begins to overheat and water pours out of the water resevoir. If i remove any of the two relay associated with the temp sensor, the low speed and the high speed the fans turn on but wont turn offf until i turn off the car. What else can i check to resolve this problem. Also if i run the car with the fans running direct with the sensor unplug or activate the rlays by removing them ,then the car runs fine but wastes more gas. Help will be appeciated by anyone familiar with this dodge intrepid problems.

Check under hood on drivers side for relay/fuse box. They are labeled on underside of cover. If that turns up o.k. then I'd look at coolant temperature sensor.

99 dodge stratus dies while driving

Were the plugs covered in oil? With the plugs that go through the valve cover you might need new seals. Did you replace the plug wires? You need to scan it for codes. It's most likely a missfire, but it could be a bad speed sensor (also called, VSS vehicle speed sensor, cam position sensor,or crank position sensor).

Check engine light on 97 intrepid

Yes, the Computer, on your car detects, all sensors . I, would recommend going to Auto Zone,
and have a Code Reader , recheck your car after
you disconnect negative battery cable, for at least 5 minutes, will wipe out memory and reset problem codes, after you start engine. You will start a new set of any problem codes.

P.S. Auto Zone, no charge for Code Reader, a Dealer will charge at least $ 75.00 for a 5 second read ! Not !!! get it read for free.

Radiator fan not turning on 02 intrepid

maybe the sensor that turns on the fans might of gone bad . . and turning on the ac when engine is gettin hot is not going to help instead turn on the heater to reduce the heat , also overheating causes hoses and gaskets to get soft and get destroyed
