We are considering buying a 1998 Mercedes E320. When our friend had us pick up to drive for a while, it had been sitting for a year. It wouldn't start. So she had a new battery put in it. Now we do not have a code to get the radio to work. How can we get it?

It is always safer to charge the battery out of circuit, Removal of one cable will insure you can safely charge without hurting electronics on board. Generally if your battery is already sufficiently charged it acts like a capacitor in the circuit and will prevent damage, but many battery chargers do not always put out a pure dc voltage and this can damage electonics.

Without going to a dealer, you need to get a scan tool to reset the srs light. Go to an Autozone store, They will scan it and reset it free of charge.

Hello. Your remote is 13 years old and most likely just worn out. Time for a new one! You can get it at a dealership; but they are much less costly on the internet. Just search your make, model, year and add key FOB. When you get it in the mail there will be instructions on how to program it so it will be customized to your vehicle. Joe
