Safe mode the car will go in forward, 2nd gear. If it's not going forward, you waited to long. Time for a rebuild.

run the fault cods to determine the reason for the fail safe mode. It may be a cam/ rank sensor or other problem

I suggest you take your vehicle in to have a computer diagnostic ran on it. They'll probably have to reset it with their equipment.

safe mode protects things you need to get the safe mode sorted then will all be fine

Check transmission fuse its the one labeled PRNDL or similar.Use a test light when you check it by the way.If the fuse is good then its probaly your ignition switch failed.If that fuse is bad or the ignition switch is not suppling power to that fuse your tack,speedo,and gear indicator wont work, and your transmission will go into a safe mode.Safe mode is just the transmission staying in 3rd gear all the time until you fix this.

you have lost power/check fuseable links,main fuses/and of corse battrey cabels at the battrey
