My 1993 toyota pickup runs fine then acts like it is starving for gas. when it does this i turn the ignition off and start it back up and runs fine for a few minutes and does the same thing.
Do you know the last time the fuel filter was changed? That might be it. Or the fuel pump or fuel pressure regulator might be going bad. Is it possible to have the fuel pressure checked?

Definitely sound like a carb issue. You need a good carb tuner who can strip it and clean it. It sounds like the choke is sticking, so it starts fine when cold and then when hot, the choke is still on.
! have a 93 Toyota pickup that I started and while it was warming up ,during sub zero weather, it stopped running. Now when I try to start it, it will turn over but will not start. It is getting gas but doesn't seem to be firing.
in my experience alot of times what happens when ignition systems get hot from running for a period of time the ignition coil breaks down and weakens when old and worn out then let it cool down for awhile then starts right back up. so look into checking into the coil break down for loss of spark

I suggest you get one of those manuals people get nowadays to do it yourself.. My nephew use it to repair my car and it's totally repaired now. Here's the website he bought it from.
my '93 f-250 (4.9L) stopped running while driving, now it acts like it isn't getting any fuel. Tried switching tanks, but still does the same. What would be the problem.
There is a pre fuel pump in the gas tank that you can get to under a round black cover with three screws in the trunk. That pump transfers fuel to the main pump. Sounds like your main pump is starving for fuel. Not sure if this is your issue but its something to check. have someone crank or start the car if possible and listen to the pre pump. If you put your hand on it you should feel it running.
