1992 Oldsmobile 98 regency elite my ac works in spurts it did not work for 2 years then i changed the fuse and it worked for 3 days and shut back off with out popping the fuse.

It has to be a fuse. Check the maxi fuses under the hood. Also, check each fuse individually wherever there's a fuse box. If there's a blown fuse, then you have a short in the cigarette lighter and you will have to get the car serviced.

Remove motor from trunk and test it using jumper wires from the battery.

You can get a used one for $20 at the junk yard or a new one at the dealer for about $80.

the heater fan circulates the air for the a/c. so when a/c is on adjust it with the fan controls. if more problems with it, repost. if a/c compressor is not working. check the a/c relay in fuse box.
