I am looking for the order of the spark plug wires from the distributor to the spark plug on my 1988 volvo 740 gle. This car is not a turbo.

Clarification on my question: When I'm looking at the top of my distributor, what is the order I plug my spark plug wires in and what spark plug does it go to. I don't know if they go in order or if maybe the third spot on the distributor goes to the first spark plug.

1988 volvo 740 gle long time at garage cannot start lot of part been change e.g distributor.coil.fuel pump.filter.service air flow and devider but still cannot run the engine

hi, you need to take the spark plags out and clean them. the air filter must be taken off and pour an egg cup full of petrol into the carburetter, this is very important not to put too much as this will WET the spark plug and you will need to press the thottle full bore while turning the engine over. try this to test if fuel, spark plugs, points / electronic ignition, ignition, firing order (leads the wrong way around), mechanical parts, all other wiring correct, gerry

I have a 88 volvo 740 GLE and it wont fire.

The problem wont be your timing belt. you need to take out a spark plug plug it into your HT lead and check for a strong spark or even if there is a spark. check your contact breakers on the distributor as well
