SOURCE: brake lights don't work

This sounds like a bad brake light switch, this switch is located on the bracket that holds brake pedal, you can test for power at switch, also if you remove connector and jump terminals with a wire and see if lights lite, if lights light then switch is bad,

SOURCE: Tail lights work, brake lights don't... sometimes

Intermit problems can be a night mare. It does sound like the brake light switch is what causing the problem. You have a good chance a voltage drop test would tell if the switch is what causing the problem. Depending on the price of the brake light switch I would take a gamble and replace it.

On my 2010 crown vic I have headlights but no tail lights. I do have brake lights and turn signals.

If your 2010 Crown Victoria has functioning headlights, brake lights, and turn signals but no tail lights, the issue could be with the tail light circuit or with a specific component in the tail light assembly.
Here are a few things you can try to troubleshoot the issue:
  • Check the tail light fuses. Make sure that the tail light fuses are not blown. Check the vehicle's owner manual for the location of the fuses.
  • Check the tail light bulbs. Make sure that the tail light bulbs are working properly, if not replace them.
  • Check the wiring. Make sure that the wiring for the tail lights is connected properly and that there are no frayed wires or broken connections.
  • Check the brake light switch. The brake light switch is responsible for turning on the brake lights when the brake pedal is depressed. Make sure the brake light switch is working properly.
  • Check the turn signal switch. Make sure the turn signal switch is working properly, and properly wired to the tail lights.
If the problem persist after trying the above solutions, It would be best to consult a professional mechanic or an auto electrical technician to diagnose the issue, as it could be a malfunction in one of the electronic module that control the lighting. It's a good idea to take the vehicle to a dealership or repair shop that specializes in Ford vehicles. They will have access to the wiring diagrams and repair information needed to correctly diagnose and repair the issue with the tail lights.

1995 Dodge Ram 1500. My brake light won't turn on, and my tail lights won't turn off!

Question edited for clarity and spelling, wrong type of break / brake.
Question moved to correct category.

The most likely cause would be a disconnected or badly connected connector under the dash from the lighting switch and lighting stalk. It is confusing the Body Control Module which monitors and operates all this stuff on a computer network.

You may need an auto electrician and a pro grade scan tool computer to diagnose.

I have a 2000 BMW z3 that the brake light doesn't turn off while running. I've removed the wire off the switch but still on. The right hand signal flashes fast when lights are on.

Usually if my right blinker is flashing fast it means one of my right blinkers is not working either front or back right side. Not sure but I know every vehicle I have ever had was like that. One blinders not working the other flashes fast, on the dash also.
This post he repaired the problem it was the light switch.
