02 Kia Sportage Tranny Lines

Today the transmission cooling line that runs into the radiator broke for the 3rd time. This will be the 4th radiator that I have had installed in my car in less than a year. Is this a common problem with this vehicle? Is it something in the transmission itself? anyone have any ideas why this keeps happening?

hi check the main alternator charigng wire the comes out of your alternator see if it is sending a 14v no less reading on a multimeter if not replace the alternator if so go to your battery see if the multimeter readings are the same as the alternator if so do a battery discharge test if not trace the path of the main wire which comes from the alternator to the battery for breaks and all connections yates210456

SOURCE: 2000 kia sportage ex, 4 cyl.

Many of the Kia sportages have a problem with the coils.

There are 2 coils for each 2 cyl and they are located under the middle platic cap on the valve cover.

These coils will set a check engine light that blinks when misfiring and stays on steady when the motor is running smooth. Autozone or Advance auto have a scanner that can check all engine functions and will show a problem with # 2 and 4 cyl.

The coil packs are $39.00 to replace but check the codes first

SOURCE: 02 jeep liberty won't shift into 3rd or 4th gear.

Ratio codes generally indicate a pressure loss & slipping which the computer reads as a gear ratio problem. Likely you need a rebuild.

There are to many things that can cause this problem, best thing to is go get the ECM scanned for DTC codes at a transmission shop or Auto zone or Parts Source since they scan for free.
The ECM should have DTC code in it's memory on how the transmission is Performing and have the Transmission line tested for Fluid pressure.
Good luck and hope this helps. Oh and also ways check with more then on transmission shop if there tell you that you need a new Transmission,
It could be a simple as the transmission filter falling off causing the lost of transmission fluid pressure. Check the transmission fluid too.

no you must have two lines for each . one is oil and one is transmission fluid, they both have a supply and return line. As for radiator yes use special lines.

Radiator installation on 2003 Kia Sorento

That is a VERY easy radiator.
Loosen radiator drain plug and drain coolant from radiator.
Disconnect cooling fan connectorsRemove upper and lower radiator hoses after marking them to ease installation.
For vehicles equipped with automatic transaxles, disconnect transmission cooler lines at transaxle.
Remove air conditioner condenser fixing bolts and radiator bracket fixing nuts.
Remove the radiator, radiator cooling fan, air conditioning cooling fan and transmission cooler lines from the vehicle as an assembly.
Transfer all necessary parts (fan assemblies, cooler lines, clips, speed nuts, fittings, etc.) to the new radiator.

Reverse procedure to install.

Fill and bleed cooling system.

New tranny in my 92 ssei now it has tranny fluid in the rad ???????

The transmission and engine are there own entities. Unfortuantly the radiator in some vehicles cool the tranny fluid. Its possable when the coolant lines were disconnected from the transmission or from the radiator, the seal was broken on the radiator where the line goes in from the radiator, so you wont see it because its internal. This will allow trans fluid to enter into the radiator. Be careful with trans fluid mixed with the coolant may cause engine damage. Your solution to the problem if this is infact the source would mean replacing the radiator, if you do this be sure to flush the coolant system to rid trans fluid.

Oil lines going to radiator

There are no oil lines that go from the Oil Filter to the Radiator.

There are Transmission Fluid Oil lines that go from the Transmission to the Oil Cooler on the Radiator.  Plugging these, or not having them connected - will cause rapid transmission failure from overheating.

Lots of people even add additional tranny coolers.  Especially if they do much towing...  If the line is broken right at the radiator - it must be fixed.  If it is broken a little ways away - you can reconnect the lines using tranny fluid hoses.

there are a few things you wana be carefull of there should be 2 trans cooling lines along with the 2 anti freeze lines that need to be disconnected along with that it should be 2 or 4 bolts that need removing and you might have to remove the fan cover other that that make sure that when you take out the old one lift it strait up and do the same to put in the new one but go strait down
