On my 2010 Chev Impala, my low beam lights work but not my highbeams. I checked the fuses and the bulbs and they are both good. The switch in the car appears to work at the dash light indicator shows high beams are activated. I even put a new bulb in and it still did not work. Any suggestions

SOURCE: 04 chev optra i have

I have a similar problem with my 2005 Optra 5 - daytime running lights are hit/miss. About 3-4 years ago, the alarm started activating itself - FREQUENTLY. Turns out it was corroded wires. Now this. (Take heart - my Corolla had a similar problem - bad sockets - bulbs burned out faster than they could be replaced. Toyota never did admit responsibility.)

sounds like the problem is the dimmer switch, get a price on the dimmer switch. If you have to, get one at a junk yard . It's cheaper.

2010 impala high beams do not come on, light on dash comes on, replaced bulbs still don't work, checked all fuses, look good

High Beam Headlamp Operation
Battery voltage is applied at all times to the coil and switch sides of the HIGH BEAM PCB Relay located in the underhood fuse block. When the headlamp dimmer switch is placed in the high beam position, the headlamp dimmer switch signal circuit to the BCM is pulled low signaling the headlamp high beam request. In response to this signal, the BCM applies ground through the high beam relay control circuit energizing the high beam relay. With the high beam relay energized, battery voltage is applied through the switch side of the relay, the left and right high beam fuses, and the high beam supply voltage circuits illuminating the high beam headlamps. At the same time the BCM sends a GMLAN serial data message to the instrument panel cluster (IPC) requesting the IPC to illuminate the high beam indicator. Ground for the left headlamp is provided at G101 and the right headlamp at G100.

Check for 12VDC at the connector with your high beams on. Could be the wiring or the connector and no they run on the same fuse.

I have a 2005 chev impala can i replace my high beams headlights with just low beam lights

NO YOU HAVE TO REPLACE HIGH BEAM LIGHT BULBS WITH HIGH BEAM LIGHT BULBS BECAUSE HIGH BEAM LIGHT BULBS AND LOW BEAM LIGHT BULBS TWO DIFFERENT TYPES OF BULBS.WEAR CLEAN LATEX GLOVES HANDLING THE HEADLIGHT BULBS WHICH IS HALOGEN LIGHT BULBS, OIL FROM FINGERS OR HAND WILL CAUSE HALOGEN BULBS TO OVER HEAT BLOW OUT.

Low beam does not light up

If your highbeams work theres a strong possibility that BOTH your headlight bulbs the low beam filament is burned out, if the highbeams dont work either check all related wiring and fuses for the headlights also the headlight switch on your steering column....

Low beam headlight will not come on

Hi,
With the low beam switched on, see if you're getting power at the wire connection to the bulbs. If so, there may be a bulb grounding issue. If not, there may be a light dimmer switch issue. Just a quick observation but I hope it helps.
Good luck!

Low beam dosent work. bulb is good highbeam works cant find fuse for lights. its not underhood

Hi,
It has been because the lamp bulb or halogen lamp module has reached the end of its serviceable life, not because of any wiring problems. Low beam burns out first because it is on the most. If low beam is lost simultaneously in both headlights, I would check fuse first, then the headlight switch. If low beam is lost on one side only, it is almost always going to be due to the bulb or lamp module needing to be replaced. In that case, replace them in both headlights because the other one will be going kaput in short order, as well.
Most like the low beam filiment is bad but the high beam filiment is still good, try replacing bulb. If replacing bulb does not fix problem then you probably have voltage problems and should check the voltage reading and the plug.
OR
isolate the wire that comes from the headlight switch to the headlamp bulbs for low beam and check to see if there is a short in the wire. You can find this wire by using a test light turn on the key and get a good ground with the test light poke the wire and see if the test light illunimates with the headlight switch on.
check the wires, and check the fuse for your lowbeams. could of blown a fuse on your lows, but your highs will still work.

The fuse box is located in the engine compartment,on the driver's side. Has thumb-screw retained cover.
