I have a Pontiac Montana and we have replaced the radiator, water pump, and the thermostat. Because the car was running hot...we first replace the radiator and thought..problem solved...it wasn't running hot any more..well about a week later it started again. So we were told that it must need a new water pump so we replaced it. It also done well for about a week or so then it started running hot yet AGAIN!! So then we were told it must the the thermostat. And it done the SAME THING AGAIN!! PLEASE any ideas??

Is the fan turning on at all when it gets warm? If not I would look at the coolant fan switch. Did you replace the radiator cap with the new radiator?

CHECK YOUR RELAY IN YOUR FUSE BOX UNDER THE HOOD ON THE DRIVERS SIDE INNER FENDER. THE A/C AND THE HEATER RELAY ARE SAME. CHECK AND SEE IF THE A/C REALY WORKS BY TURNING ON YOUR A/C SWITCH. THE ELECTRIC FAN SHOULD START RIGHT AWAY. OTHERWISE YOU HAVE TO WAIT TILL THE ENGINE ACHEIVES OPERATING TEMP TO KICK THE FAN ON. IF ONE DON'T WORK AND OTHER OTHER DOES... SWITCH THE RELAY AND SEE IF IT WORKS. BEEN THERE AND DONE THAT. $9.00 FOR A NEW RELAY AT CHECKER AUTO PARTS.

SOURCE: after spending 880 dollors on having a head gasket

YOU COULD HAVE A DEFECTIVE WATER PUMP OR THERMOSTAT ALSO RADIATOR PRESSURE CAP.MAKE SURE YOUR WATER PUMP IS BEING TURNED BY DRIVE BELT.NOT SLIPPING.MAKE SURE COOLANT SYSTEM HAS BEEN BLED AND YOU HAVE HALF ANTIFREEZE HALF WATER.CHECK YOUR CRANKCASE WHEN CAR COOLS DOWN.IF OIL STILL LOOK LIKE MILK SHAKE.YOUR NEW HEAD GASKETS LEAKING.THE MECHANIC WHO REPLACED HEAD GASKET DIDNT DECK THE HEADS.THEY PROBABLY NEED SHAVED A LITTLE SO HEAD GASKET WILL SEAL.

My 99 Pontiac Montana Keeps running Hot.I replace the thermostat , Coolant Sensor..Is It possible that the water pump Is Bad?

The radiator may be plugged or the head gasket can let compression gasses into the radiator . To check, run the engine without the radiator cap and look in to see if there any bubbles in the coolant. If there is a lot of coolant moving in the radiator after the T/stat has opened, the water pump is ok. If not then suspect the water pump is not circulating enough water.

Vehicle heats up very fast and I get no heat out of the dashboard. The upper hose is hot but the lower hose is cold after running the engine overheats. When I started it, the belt was squealing. Aft

START WITH THE BASICS. CLEAN, FULL 50/50 MIX IN SYSTEM. CHANGE THERMOSTAT. LOOK FOR TRACES OF COOLANT LOSS FROM THE WEEP HOLE IN BOTTOM OF WATER PUMP (USUALLY UNDER PULLEY). WATER PUMP DRIVE BELT OR SERPENTINE BELT MAY NEED TO BE REPLACED. ALSO MAKE SURE RADIATOR CAP IS WORKING PROPERLY.CHECK FOR LEAKS ANT WHERE ELSE IN ENGINE AREA.

Why would a 2002 Pontiac Montana continuously runs hot after changing water pump, thermostat, and heater cord

Was the temp gauge doing this before the repairs ?
Does the engine feel hot when the gauge is reading hot ?
If the engine really is hot, it could be a blockage in the radiator or elsewhere. You could also have air in the system and not enough liquid coolant.

My 2002 Pontiac Montana gets to hot in a short distance. I don't know what it is I have an idea it's either the thermostat or a blown head gasket not sure which one. So which one is it?

You would need to figure out if the thermostat is stuck closed, or not.
Most mechanics would either replace it or take it out and run the engine without it as a test. If the engine still overheats with the thermostat out, it could be a faulty water pump, restriction in the radiator, or other problems.
A blown head gasket should leak coolant out on the ground or into the engine.

My 2003 pontiac montana keeps over heating

Check your catalytic converter..It's before the muffler..See if it's getting extra hot...That will make your car motor very hot.
