I removed the throttle body off my 2000 Saturn Sl.. ... Sticking gas pedal fix - Saturn S-Series cars and others, sticky gas pedal - Duration: 4:50.

The ignition control module ( Body Control Module ) is located above the glove box, you'll need to remove it , and its right there.

The ECM maybe stuck, disconnect the battery and wait 5 mins then reconnect.

Other things that normal cause high rpm at idle:

• PCV hose to throttle body has a leak
• vacuum line to brake has a leak.
• the throttle plate maybe dirty and is open partly
• the IAC is bad. Which is on the throttle body.
• the throttle plate sensor is bad, just unplug it and see if the rpm goes down. If it does, replace the sensor.
• the egr value maybe stuck
• bad front o2 sensor
• bad coolant senor. You should have this replace since the original sensor where plastic tip and crack. The new ones has a brass tip. the transmission and air( IAT) have the same sensor part.

throttle body sensor is bad

remove the throttle body (4 bolts) and then remove the idle air control (bolted to the TB, between the firewall and the throttle body)-clean the TB, the Idle air controller and remove the Throttle Position Sensor (opposite the IAC) and clean it if necessary. The IAC carbons up on these cars, as does the Throttle body-I know, I have a 99 SL with 180,000 miles, it is almost like an oil change as they get older.

Spray carb and choke cleaner directly into the throttle body once you have taken off the intake air hoses.Aim sraight at the butterfly in the throttle housing,this will get rid of the carbon build up that is causeing your problem.

The problem here is the ECTS. Engine Coolant Temp. Sensor. It cost around $12 dollars and takes maybe 5 mins to fix with a 13mm socket. Saturn SL series built before november 2001 have a plastic ECTS. When you buy the new one make sure it has the brass tip as some parts stores still carry the cheap plastic one

call dealer ask for diagram from the book they will usualy give you a copy of the page so you can fix it your self of just tell you where it goes

could be the flasher unit under the dash ,,that controlls the turn signals,,,,
