My 94 Olds Cutluss Supreme stalled while driving tonite was able to get it started but it wont go once you hit the gas it stalls anyone know where to start?
I would first change the fuel filter and see if that helps. Make sure you have spark at the plugs.I would need more info before going any further. Does it act like it is running out of gas? Check oil first, Low oil sensor will shut down if more than a quart low. Change fuel filter, could be fuel starvation, change the air filter. stopped up air filter will put MAF sensor out of range. PERFORM OBDII SCAN SOON.
If your vehicle is fuel injected I would say you have a blown fuel regulator. This would cause excess fuel into the cylinders (flooding) causing a miss and coughing and also blow fuel into the air breather. If will also cause the vehicle to run poorly and could cause the vehicle to stall. Also to much fuel on startup can flood the cylinders and cause the vehicle to no start.
Check out the EVAP system to see if you have a broken charcoal canister or cracked vacuum line. Also check for vacuum leaks.. Those would cause hesitation, stalling. Read this post on EVAP Chrysler EVAP System Ricks Free Auto Repair Advice
TRY CHANGING FUEL FILTER,COULD BE CLOGGED FUEL FILTER,FUEL PUMP FAILING,FUEL COULD BE CONTAMINATED WITH WATER.IF FUEL SYSTEM OKAY,CHECK FOR SPARK AT SPARK PLUGS,COULD BE FAULTY IGNITION MODULE OR FAULTY IDLE AIR CONTROL VALVE I WOULD HAVE VECHICLE CODE SCAN FIRST BEFORE SPENDING MONEY.
The problem is " The Torque Converter Clutch, (TCC) solenoid" is what actually causes the TCC to engage and disengage. When the TCC solenoid receives a signal from the ECM, it opens a passage in the valve body and hydraulic fluid applies the TCC. When the ECM signal stops, the solenoid closes the valve and pressure is vented causing the TCC to disengage. If the TCC fails to disengage when the vehicle comes to a stop, the engine will stall. This is a common problem with older GM vehicles.
Look at the wires going to the crank sensor between the trans and engine. I have seen them get burned just below the EGR on the exaust crossover pipe. I had one eat my lunch before I found it. Good Luck
