NISSAN MAXIMA GLE WONT START

My LOCAL MECHANIC CHANGED THE FUEL PUMP AND ATTEMPTED TO START THE ENGINE BUT IT WONT START

  • picazy Apr 05, 2009

The car was working normally except for occasional jacks occasioned by the fuel pump insuficient fuel supply to the engine.

He changed it using initially and old replacement and later replaced with a new one.

The codes are : Fuel Sensor A Malfunction and Fuel Temperature Malfunction.

the car has refused to work ever since

To really give you the "right" answer I am going to need a little more information from you.

Did the car run when you gave him the car?
Why was the mechanic changing the fuel pump?

If the car ran when you gave him the car and then after he changed the fuel pump it wouldn't start I would have to say it has something to do with his removal and installation. Or the actual fuel pump itself. Was he installing a brand new or used pump?

He must not have gotten the wires back on the sender or in the wrong order causing the "new" fuel pump to not work thereby making your car not start.

Or atleast something along those lines. Like I said without a little more background I can't give you the exact answer.

Well good luck and I did my best with the information you provided.
Please feel free to give me a good rating,
Thanks and have a great day,

I might try to replace the whole sending unit and everything, not just the pump.

The unit that controls the fuel pump could be bad. I'm sure if you can find the whole unit from a junkyard or online. Local import junkyards are hard to come by in my town but maybe you live in a bigger town and can find your exact car a junk yard so you can pull the whole assembly out of the tank and drop into your car.

The junkyard will do it for you for a fee if you don't want to do it.

    Good Luck!

I have a 1998 Nissan Maxima GLE, engine was replaced with a 1998 SE engine. Since then, I have been having problems starting. I get a boost and once I move the car and park it, it won't start again....

there is a problem with your iginition timing. it is most probably overly advanced. have an experienced mechanic check your ignition timing. the mechanic should check the distributor, camshaft, and crankshaft timings.

My 96 nissan maxima suddenly did not want to start. One mechanic looked at it and said the gas is not getting to the engine. Any solutions. please!

I would let the mechanic solve it - but since you're here....
Check fuel cut off solenoid for correct operation,
Check fuel pump
Check supply to fuel pump
Check immobiliser operation
As the ECU decides when the fuel gets injected -
Check temperature sensors
Check TDC crank sensor
Check O2 sensor
Check throttle sensors
Check MAP sensor

If you cannot do these, or don't have a OBD2 diagnostic tool..... Take it to the mechanic.

1996 nissan maxima gle, 3.0L auto. There is Coolant leaking from the front of engine behind a/c compressor as best as i can tell. I know the engine has an enternal water pump, what is the best way to tell...

You will have to see it. There are dentist type mirrors available in auto parts strore that will allow for you to see it, PLEASE do this when the engine is relatively cool. e.g. start-up. The coolant generally travels straight down, although this is not always the case it is a good indication as to the locatioon of the leak. It is impossible for the coolant to leak from between the block and pan. It appears so as the coolant travels along the rim of the oil pan on its way to the ground. If you can get a thin cardboard strips in there you can tell where the wet starts and stops

'97 Maxima GLE. Has sat for 2 months. Will start

start witha new fuel filter and perhaps a intank additive such as heat. also look inside the air box for nests. also common. if all is clear, let it run and idle for about 10-15 minutes look underneath the vehicle and look to see if anything under there is cherry red. if not try holding the accelerator down for a few momoents and check again. if it glows, replace the catalytic converter.

that sounds like you may need to replace the starter. the click you hear is the solenoid. the part that is just as important is the starter motor. unfortunately they are sold as one
