    Thundergod,
Good intention, wrong word by me. I want to change the serpentine belt on a 2000 Grand Cherokee, I-6 engine. Facing the car from the front there appears to be a spring loaded tension pulley on the passenger side of the engine at about 10:00. I've changed these belts on other cars I've owned, and own a long handled wrench built for this purpose but cannot figure out how to release the tension arm/pulley. Your help would be appreciated.
    Thanks,

One minor problem...you do not have a timing belt...your engine has a timing chain....Are you looking to change the drivebelt (serpentine belt) or do you need to replace the chain???

If you have the same pulley arrangement that most 4.0 engines have that pulley is an idler not a tensioner. Your power steering pump has a pivot bolt, and a slide under the pump. You adjust belt tension using the pump.

Sorry I didn't answer faster but was watching Earnhardt figure out new ways to go backwards!!! Don't tell anyone it's easy or the engineers will find a way to make that go away!!!
If my answer helped why not rate it??

Where are the spark plugs

Locate the spark plug wires in the Cherokee cylinder head. In the 4.0 liter engine, the spark plugs are below the coil rail assembly. On the 4.7 liter engine, the spark plugs are located under each corresponding engine coil.

Does the 2000 4.0 liter Jeep Cherokee Sport need to have timing belt replaced and at approx what mileage intervals?

There are no jeeps with a timing belt. Your 4.0 has a timing chain and it will last the life of the engine as long as you take care of the engine.

Need to know the plugwire placement in 1994 Jeep Cherokee

That vehicle came with three different engine options for that year, there was a 2.5 liter inline 4 cylinder engine, a 4.0 liter inline 6 cylinder engine, or a 5.2 liter V-8 engine. Here are the firing order diagrams for all three engines and one of them should help you to solve your problem.

2.5 liter.

HOW DO YOU CHANGE THE IDLER PULLEY?

It is as simple as removing the nut and pulling it off and sliding the new one on. Once you get it back replace the belt and set it to the correct tension. It is as simple as that. Without a belt tension gauge a good rule of thumb is about 1 inch of deflection at the longest belt run.
On your engine it's 1 inch between the power steering pump and the air conditioner compressor.

Does V6 Cherokee Larado have a timing chain or belt?

First off, if you have a 2004 Grand Cherokee with the 4.0 liter 6 cylinder engine, then it is an inline 6 rather than a V-6. To answer your question, it has a timing chain.
