Most important is to deactivate SBC control unit with computer to start work, otherwise you can damage system, then to change pads for front is just 13mm spanner and for rear - T40 torx.

Noise when applying brakes on my e240

Brakes could be worn down allowing a safety feature to make a noise, or if it is a grinding noise your disc pads are worn out and need replacing

My 2002 Mercedes Benz E240 suddenly stopped at a junction and will not start since then. It still accepts the ignition key and rolls the engine but will not start. Found out one brake pad had worn off

The cpu sent you a warning that you obviously ignored and now it has shut down the engine to protect you. Have the brakes repaired and reset the cpu. check for fault codes.

Is there a special way to change front brake pads on a 2006 mercedes c class coupe?

No. Just special tools. And I believe there are sensors on the pads that Mercedes recommends replaceing with the pads.

Passat 2003 tdi, brake pad change..

Proper size wrenches and a large C-clamp to push piston back into the caliper is only tools for the front, but back disk brakes require special tool to TURN the piston as it is pushed back into caliper to reset emergency brake. This tool can often be borrowed from Auto parts store or purchased from Harbor Freight http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=40732 for about $20. Don't try to service rear disks without the tool, Calipers can be broken if not retracted properly!

Brake wear visit work shop. merc e270

Mercedes brakes are setup with a pad wear indicator on the pads, one of the four pads in the front should have had a wire attached to it ( as well as in the rear brakes if 4 wheel disc). If this wire is broken or was't re-installed on the new pads, this will trigger the light on your vehicle, if all the wirs are connected properly and in place i would suggest taking it to the dealer to have them take care of the light. Hope this helps
