Put new after market rear bumper on my 2002 chevy Silverado 2500hd and my new license plate light has one wire and old light has 2 wire so I just connected the hot wire to new light and now my rear tail light running light does not work. Checked under the hood fuse box but no bad fuse. Where is the fuse for the rear running lights located at? Or any info on problem

Check for that fuse in a fuse panel under the dash.
That second wire from the old light is a ground wire, whereas the new light's socket is case grounded if there is no ground wire for the light. If the fuse for the tail lights is good, check if the tail lights lost a ground .

Have a friend, (or in-law) someone you're not too fond of, stand in front of the truck while you honk the horn and have them pinpoint it for you.

SOURCE: Tail lights don't work on 1998 Chevy Silverado.

check the wiring from the tailights back to the fuse panel, it sounds like an open connection. if i recall correctly check under the dash on the drivers side near the fuse panel for a bunch of wires in a bundle and look carefully for a wire or two that are cut/shorted/or seperated, you can also check under the drivers side kick panel by the hood release.

I am having the same problem on an 04 2500hd there isa 15 amp stop light fuse inside the cab on the side of the instrument panel and a 25 amp stop light fuse under hood. you could also have a break switch issue the switch is located up on the break pedal linkage you should have power on the white wire when you push the pedal in (check with a test light) in my case I have a broken wire along the frame rail in the harness it is a light blue wire,

2002 Cadillac escalade I want to remove the Rear bumper cover to get to the license plate lights assembly to add new ones.

Remove the wheels if possible.
Remove the two clips from each side (by pulling up the center).
Move the fender liner away to access and remove the 7 mm bolt that is near the corner.
Unscrew the four cargo anchors from the floor of the trunk.
Move the trim panel and remove the 4 10mm bolts.

To get to the license plate lights assembly, you can follow these steps:

Open the rear compartment lid and locate the license plate light assembly inside the trunk lid.
Above the license plate, locate four Philips head screws holding the license plate light assembly inside the trunk lid.
Remove the screws (caution: in winter, plastic is extremely fragile and can break easily).
Once the screws are off, your license light assembly is loose inside the trunk lid.

2002 Cadillac Escalade I want to remove only the bumper cover to get to the license plate assembly so i can remove and add new ones.

To remove the bumper cover on a 2002 Cadillac Escalade to access the license plate assembly, you'll need some basic tools and follow these steps:
**Note:** Be sure to take necessary safety precautions, and if you're uncomfortable doing this yourself, consider consulting a professional mechanic.
1. **Gather Tools and Materials:**
- Screwdrivers
- Socket set
- Pliers
- Trim removal tool (or flathead screwdriver)
2. **Raise the Vehicle:**
- For easier access, you can raise the front end of your vehicle using a jack and support it with jack stands.
3. **Remove the Wheel Well Liners (Optional):**
- Depending on your vehicle and access, you may need to remove the wheel well liners to reach the bumper attachment points. These are typically held in place with plastic clips or screws.
4. **Remove Retaining Clips and Screws:**
- Locate and remove the screws, clips, or fasteners holding the bumper cover in place. These are typically found along the top and sides of the bumper.
- Use a trim removal tool or a flathead screwdriver to carefully pry out the clips.
5. **Disconnect Fog Lights (if applicable):**
- If your vehicle has fog lights integrated into the bumper cover, disconnect the wiring harnesses.
6. **Detach the Bumper Cover:**
- Carefully start detaching the bumper cover from the vehicle by gently pulling it away. Work your way around the bumper to release the clips or fasteners.
7. **Remove the License Plate Assembly:**
- Once the bumper cover is loosened, you should have access to the license plate assembly.
- Remove the screws or fasteners securing the license plate assembly, and detach it from the bumper cover.
8. **Install the New License Plate Assembly:**
- Attach the new license plate assembly to the bumper cover, using the same screw holes or fasteners.
9. **Reattach the Bumper Cover:**
- Align the bumper cover properly, and carefully push it back into place, making sure it clips securely.
10. **Reattach Retaining Clips and Screws:**
- Put back the screws and retaining clips in their respective locations along the top and sides of the bumper cover.
11. **Reconnect Fog Lights (if applicable):**
- Reconnect the wiring harnesses for the fog lights.
12. **Reinstall Wheel Well Liners (if removed):**
- If you removed the wheel well liners, reinstall them and secure them with the clips or screws.
13. **Lower the Vehicle:**
- Carefully lower your vehicle from the jack stands if you raised it.
Remember to take your time, work carefully, and document the disassembly process if necessary. If you're unsure about any step, it's always a good idea to consult your vehicle's repair manual or seek professional assistance.

Accessing spare tire on 2001 Chevy silverado, 2500HD

These are done with a series of extentions that are part of the jack and "spare tire kit". It goes through the rear bumper and is lowered and raised by turning these poles or extentions. This more than likely has a little cover over the hole nearest the license plate I believe. Let me know if you need anything else.

Tail lights dont work

Oh boy, Chevy uses 3 important wires to make up their tail light harness. Brown is used for your parking lights and yellow and green are your signal and brake light wires, yellow one side, green the other. You have some seriously crossed wires. Start with tracing the lic plate lite since that works. Make sure it leads into your main parking lights and the ground wires from these tail lites aren't cut. The lic place lite will work with just power because the body of the lite is grounded with the bumper. Then make sure that there is power to the signal wires. You can do this with a test light and the signal light switched on. You don't need anyone to step on the brakes since it's the same signal, only interepted. Most importantly, Remove the tail lites and check grounds!! Good luck
