Didn't know the hatchback has key hole. mine don't. Anyways. climb in it from the inside and see if you can manually unlock the hatch. It's a little white knob at the latch that moves from side to side...lock/unlock. good luck

Thanks Pablo, My hatch wasn't locking for some reason neither by remote or key so I was able to do it manually from inside like you suggested. Big help until latch gets fixed, didn't want to leave hatch unlocked. Thanks again!

Heath1292 Did you resolve your issue? I know it has been over a year since your post. I have a 2004 Acura RSX, and I am having the same issue. There is not an additional release switch/button. Cannot even take the panels off without it being a major de-construction. Any ideas/suggestions? Thanks

1998 mitubishi galant es trunk wont close

The usual cause of this is the lock has closed or jammed for some reason. You should be able to re-open the lock with the key or the lever inside the car. You should be able to see the lock mechanism is open.

The mechanism hooks on to the loop on the trunk edge. This loop is adjustable, and may have worked loose.

Lastly, all the above assumes that you have not had a rear end collision or similar damage.

Hatch closes tight then opens

The latch is not engaging all the way. It temporary does than release part way. It is similar to a hood latch. When you close hatchback the l?tch mechanism is supposed to close around the pin and lock tight for some reason your latch spring back a little. Could be the spring or locking clip. Might need a new latch mechanism. Easy to replace. Car won't lock because mechanism is broken

Trunk release clicks, but won't release

Something broke on the lock mechanism. In order to open the trunk, you will have to remove the rear seats and try to access the trunk area. Once you are in the trunk, you should be able to manually open the lock and investigate what broke.

My mercedes clk battery dead i cant open trunk

On the side of the smart key there is a mechanical key that slides out of one of the sides-There should be a little release lever retaining the mechanical key. It can be inserted into the trunk lock and turned to open the trunk. There are several other positions the key can be turned to place the trunk lock actuation in different modes- it should be in your owner's manual Hopefully I have been helpful

Lift gate wont open

OK, this minor collision may have shifted the actual clip and latch assembly. You may have to totally disassemble the latch assembly to release this lift gate.

Any kind of major or minor shifting of the lift gate lock latch assembly can cause misalignment that will jam this delicate precise locking mechanism.
