How hard is it to change my oil in my 07 captiva:)

in any car its very easy, but what may cost you a little more is buying what you need to do it 1 the wrenches 2 a filter wrench
3 containers to hold oil 4 disposal of oil ,5 some way to lift or get under vehicle, SAFELY . with that said go for it . I'm sorry to say I'm a full time mechanic and I refuse to change my own oil . 21.00 at pep boys is the deal for me ,but not all of us have that convenience .

Automatic 1996 Pontiac Bonneville wont shift gears

Transmissions have so many parts so it's difficult to diagnose. I would have the transmission filter changed first. Usually that is the most common shifting problem. If that doesn't fix the problem it may be a little more costly.

I believe my head gasket is blown, but all the mechanics i have been to don't want to do the job. it's a 2002 olds intrique. Is this a difficult job? Is it costly? Some say I might as well junk the...

That vehicle requires a lot of special tools and equipment to work on the engine. MOST mechanics do not want to spend the thousands of dollars in tool investments just so they can service a vehicle that has been discontinued and is no longer being manufactured. Your best bet would be to see if you can get a dealer to take it. The problem here is that a lot of dealers refuse to work on ANYTHING that is more than 10 years old or has higher than 100,000 miles on the clock. Also, many GM dealers are refusing to work on ANY Oldsmobiles that are out of warranty....NOT a good situation for those that spent MANY THOUSANDS of dollars BUYING the [blankety-blank] things.

- then they sit back and wonder what is WRONG with our economy....

You can buy a new oversize oil plug at any parts store and you do not have to replace the oil pan. They were scared they would be stuck for fixing it thinking it was stripped by someone else. cost's $7.00

SL1 wont start sometimes

Sounds stupid, but could be bad battery conection. The car gets enough amperage to run the acceseries but not enough amperage to start the car. Clean and tighten the terminals. It cost nothing and will eliminate these connections as the cause if the problem persits.

\abs lights ; wheel bearings; now engine light; Electrical???

from what you tell , seems to me you either drive through a million potholes a mile, or bought a lemon car. from what i see you like medium to big cars; i would recommend a camry. i would reccommend you buy a used camry or corolla or altima with a proven service record(some document showing what services were done on the car)(check SAFETY RECALLS on the internet before; the model with the least, buy)with no electronic nonsense on board( wich are simpler and cheaper to diagnose and fix) .buy an external GPS if you really need it( and no i do not need the car to welcome me and tell me the temperature, thank you very much).
ps. where i live, a battery costs around $80, 2 tires, $100. I'd reccommend you buy the service manual(haynes, chilton if there is one available for your car) (any pepboys kragen etc)and read the intro of the chapters, so at least when the repair shop tells you whats wrong, you can check it with your repair manual.
