well, a similar problem .... mine stopped working last year, also not the battery.  Then six months ago my car was broken into and the alarm went off and I couldn't make it stop with the remote (obviously since it wasnt working) .....  so I simply started the car and the alarm turned itself off....

and strangely enough, the remote started working again, and has worked until a couple days ago ....

I am convinced it has something to do with needing to be reset but I am just now trying to figure that out .....

Mine also suddenly stopped working. I put new battery in it and nothing. My local mall in north Carolina has a key matching store that carried the same key fobs. I can't think of the name but I explained that it wasn't working and they knew what was wrong without looking it. They demonstrated that each button circuit generally has about a 8 to 10 year life span and that they could weld new ones on for $80. They included the programming part for free and I haven't had a problem since

Remote key fob stopped working not battery

Follow the instructions on http://www.bluejag.co.uk I would normally cut and paste the details but you can't do this now, so sorry.
Don't go to Jaguar dealership unless you have cash to waste, and the turn 8 times solution may well work but is incorrect. There are other things that you need to be aware of (all explained on the website)

I bought a 2003 jaguar xtype used a month ago and it came with only one key can i buy one already programmed ,if not what do i need to buy and in what order?

You can purchase pre-programmed keys only from Jaguar. However you can purchase keys on the internet and match them to your car as follows:-

Jaguar X-Type Programming (Pairing) a Remote KeyFob X-Type 2.0, 2.5 and 3.0L

keyfob.jpg

Programming or pairing a new remote Keyfob for the X Type is a very simple job that will cost a substantial amount if it is done by Jaguar. It's annoying but this may need to be done if your Keyfob battery has been allowed to go flat, or the car battery has been removed for any length of time.
Follow these steps exactly and you should have no problems, pairing old or replacement Keyfobs for your car.

1.)I would recommended that you ensure all key fobs are fitted with new batteries. ( Click here to see battery replacement guide).
2.)Get in the car and close the drivers side door.
3.)Put the key into the ignition and turn to position I.
4.)Wait 5 seconds
5.)Turn the key quickly to position II then back to I four times.
6.)You should hear a single chime.
7.)Remove the Key
8.)For each Keyfob in rapid succesion. Press any single button on the keyfob you wish to pair, you should hear a chime as each Keyfob is paired with the security system. After the chime do the next Keyfob.
9.)Check operation of each Keyfob.

2004 xtype jaguar key fob suddenly stopped working car locked and alarmed if i use key in the door will the alarm go off if so how do i stop it

Your key fob needs reprogramming, and yes the alarm will go off when you open the door, but you have enough time to put the key in the ignition which will prevent the alarm sounding. Car is usable until you get the fob sorted by locking and unlocking using the key.

How do I program S Type Jaguar key fob Year 2000 Jag ?

Seperate key fobs only can be programmed in the following way.

Turn ignition on/off 8 x times (allow all functions to stabilise) after the 9th on - press a button on both remote fobs. then turn ign. off. use good remote to lock and then try new remote to unlock/lock. sometimes it works first time - sometimes you have to repeat actions. good luck.

Reprogramming jaguar x type key fob

Your key FOB is easily programmed by yourself without the need of computer, here is how: Push and hold the trip computer button on the left stalk, while holding the button turn the ignition ON and OFF several times untill you hear a confirmation tone from the glovebox area, when the tone is heard, release the button and remove the key from the ignition, immediately after push any button on the Key FOB and you'll hear another tone that confirms the programming.
