Everytime I cut off my 2001 Impala the security light starts flashing as soon as I cut the car off and open the door.I've tried to stop it with the clicker but the flashing light will not go away unless the car is running or after so long of flashing the battery goes dead.Oh yeah, before this started I would be driving and could hear the bell that reminds u the key is in the ignition.I'm clueless, hope someone can point me in the right direction

SOURCE: 2001 impala security pass lock

I had the ignition problem in my Impala LS '01 and I solved it, my solution was to clean the 'IGN RLY' module with a little bit of WD-40 both terminals and socket, then, i put a silica gel bag near the module (in case the humidity may form tartar again) it was an instant solution, specially in rainy weather.

SOURCE: car won't start after change battery

Your vehicle has 2 ignition wires that you can put back to factory, and start the vehicle.
The wires you are looking to put back together are PINK and DARK GREEN - and found under the D/S dash. (ignition harness - right side of steering column) They will be larger in Diameter than the others.
They were cut to install the security system. They go into the "brain" and out the other side. A relay inside the BRAIN is most likely failing.
If you no longer want the alarm installed, simply match up all of the factory colors. Use crimp-on but t-connectors for secure connection.

SOURCE: wont start security light stays on

Body Control Module (BCM) on both counts. Find a shop in your town that specializes in electrical systems to test it. Beware, these can be intermittent problems, so make sure they keep it until the car does what you have observed. Expect to spend about $450 for the replacment. Dealers quoted me between $700 and $1,100 for the same repair. By the way, a new BCM will probably only last you about 12 months.

SOURCE: 2001 Chevy impala had ignition switch replaced,

Turn the key to "on" and let the light flash. It should stop flashing after about ten to twenty minutes. Once the light is on steady, turn it off, then start the car. I usually put another battery on jumper cables attached to the cars battery so it does not run down and die before the system re-arms.

You have a security issue going on. Try turning the key to the on position and leave it on without trying to start the car. Wait about 10 minutes and the light will stop flashing and come one solid. Then try to start the car. Turn the key to the off position. Wait 60 seconds and then turn the key to the on position. See if the light is still flashing. If it is then try the process again. If it isn't flashing and it is on solid then start your car.

What does it mean when the security light comes on in a 2004 chevy impala

Means that anti-theft system is enable, will cut off fuel pump and injector's, if the light is flashing, get in car turn key to on, wait about 10mim or so till light stops flashing, then turn key to off and back to start engine.

My 2001 impala security light came on and now my car wont start. what does this mean

it means you car thinks someone is trying to steal it, so it shuts off the signal to your fuel pump.( it is now in the theft detterent mode) i"ve heard that this could be caused by a number of things..first if your key has an ignition resistor pellet in it, it could be worn, or the ignition switch has a broken wire inside it..then try your spare key. Pull off negative battery cable first, let set for 30 minutes..hook it back up, insert new key, turn to on position, dont start it..let it set for ten minutes turn back off, let set for a couple of minutes then see if it starts. I've also heard that using the key fob..lock all the doors.. then unlock with the the key only on drivers side..this might reset it. I've been doing a lot of research on this and its got to be one of the most screwed up systems ever designed..there are so many different vehilces with different ways to reset the system, but usually 9 times out of ten the person ends up towing it to the DEALER, because they have a special box and the code for your vehicle that will reset it. And i dont think its a cheap fix either. i myself have just the security light on, it doesnt flash and it allows me to start it for the past two years..but i believe i caused it when i was adjusting the door locks because the driver door wasnt closing properly all the way. i surely hope you can find a cheap quick fix for this! good luck.
please let me know if any of this Helped.

im just gonna take a stab in the dark here i understand that your security light is on try unlocking your door with your key sometimes you just need to reset the security. otherwise ive seen a security module go bad that may be preventing you from starting it.

How do i reset the security system on my 2003 chevy impala

Are you reffering to the alarm or the pass lock system that put the theft light on.....If its the alarm the put the key in the door and unlock it. If its the pass lock system put the key in the ignition and turn it on and try to start the vehicle. After it shuts itself off leave the key on for ten min until the theft light stops flashing the turn key off and try to start it again. This may take a few times....

2001 Chevy Impala won't start

If the battery has gone dead, it could cause the security system to go into full lock-up mode. If it has locked up the accessories will work after the battery is charged back up , but the power to the starter will be cut off and it wont turn over. You need to do the 30 minute learn procedure. A GM dealer will print it out for you and you can do it yourself. It's very simple if you follow the procedure exact. hope this helps and good luck.
