it could be the blower went out, the heater core but most of the time it will leak water in the passenger floor board before that goes out, it could even be the thermostate is getting stuck or has shut completely. hope this helps
check see if power going to blower motor using 12 volt tesl light.if yes, remove blower motor, hot wire it.if blower motor works problem in the control switch or short in blower motor wiring,if blower motor dont work when hot wired, blower motor is bad.
There is a damper (basically a door) in the heater unit that is probably not being actuated. This damper allows the air from the blower to be sent over the hot heater core and thus warming the car interior. This damper might be either vacuum controlled or electrically controlled. My 1992 Blazer had vacuum lines that went to it. It could be that you have the vacuum lines loose under the dash. Look for loose hoses or connectors and see if you see an obvious place they might plug into.
Have the vent removed / locked open - let the air in. Volvo has no elecrical engineers. You can install the update and calabrate - then they will replace the CCCM then in a year it will lock out again. Tell them to epoxy it in position or remove the rotating drum. Poorly engineered system.
By your description, there would be no way you get 50 miles without a rad fan working or water pump problem, when you said you've put the heat in and the cars temp went up that means you have an air bubble in the system which was not properly bled.
