My 2004 Dodge Stratus has a problem with the engine light. Yesterday I took it for the Emissions Test and it failed. I was told that the engine light is on because the P0505 Idle Control System has malfunctioned. How do I fix this problem?
This 2004 Dodge Stratus has another problem. There is a noise under the hood when the engine is running. Is it the tension bearing or the Water pump bearing? This 2004 Dodge Stratus has another problem. There is a noise under the hood when the engine is running. salesman and shop mechanic blah bl;ah to sell a vehicle
try this simple test
when stopped apply the hand brake
start the engine and if it stays running , put your foot on the brake
if it stops but restarts when you take your foot of the brake to start it , the the problem is more than likely a failing brake booster
also to check for other problems take it to a service center or autozone and have the fault codes read
Could be the idle air control, once these start hanging up inside, they can cause as variety of problems with idle speed (can become wildly random) or simply a failure to idle at all.
could be a non operating oxygen sensor heating, check connector and damaged wiring, as it is posible to damage wiring or connector at this very hot plecement. Amclaussen.
Probably not a cheap fix. The car will not pass the test if the light is on during the test. The light is on when the computer has a problem that will affect emissions or performance. You would need to have the computer scanned for trouble codes then fix the problem. Once the problem is fixed and the code is erased, the light should stay off.
It should be in the housing right behind the alternator. If you have a Stratus take it to the shop.Chrysler put the thermostat on the inlet end of the cooling system (lower radiator hose) to help reduce emissions on the engine.
If it's the yellow "check engine" light, it could be many things...usually something with the emissions. The fact that you aren't experiencing any driveability problems points toward this. Depending on what the problem is, it may not cause any damage to drive it....but you will probably experience increased fuel consumption. The car will have to be plugged into a diagnostic computer to know for sure, and, to reset the light.
