Radiator flush Im wanting to flush my radiator on my 1996 chevy s-10. So i went to the auto store and bought some raditor flush, as my radiator was dirty. Reading the directions on the back label it said turn off petcock on radiator. Does anyone know where this is located, and how to do it, im assuming you turn it one way or another. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

How do i properly flush out a radiator on a 1996 nissan maxima V6? I was told at the auto parts store that I need to remove the therma-stat? Is this correct? They have a kit and a super cleaner solution? i...

Yes, you need to remove the thermostat in order to fully flush the radiator. This is because the thermostat only opens when the engine is hot. The last time I did this, I bought a kit which included a hose T connector (which was inserted into one of the heater hoses) and an adaptor for the radiator that allows the output to flow past the front of the car rather than just running on the ground. You should have a very large container to catch the waste.

I want to know how to Flush my Radiator but I don't know how. or if there is a right way or not.

Your nearest auto parts store will have a special T shaped fitting that you can install in one of your heater hoses. Follow directions which come with the fitting. Otherwise you may remove the bottom radiator hose and let the coolant run into a shallow pan that will hold several gallons. Don't let the coolant run onto the driveway or leave it in the pan unattended. Antifreeze is sweet to the taste, and is very poiseonous to animals and childrern. After draining the radiator remove the top radiator hose and flush with a garden hose for 10 minutes or until flluid comes out clean. This will only flush your radiator, to flush the whole system, you will need the T fitting.

Radiator and reservoir are empty after water pump change.

fill the raditor to the top only when cold, top off the coolant bottle level to full cold, reinspect the coolant bottle after the engine get to proper operation temputure and add coolant to the bottle only. NEVER take off the radiator cap when hot!

Tempature gauge still goes to h

, ckeck the upper hose to see if it is hot , than ckeck the bottom hose , is it cool , the temp sould be about the same .if it is super hot on top and cold at the bottom hose , the raditor may be blocked, and the coolant is not flowing. you can try to flush the radiator . look to see if there metal shaving in the coolant . if there is the radiator is breaking down. this happen to me , my car would over heat change radiator car is a,ok easy fix . radiator barn .com

Want to change out coolent in radiator myself is it a wise choice

Things you will need:
Radiator coolant mixture (get from garage)
Radiator flush fluid (also from garage)
Distilled water (Or if your me garden hose water ;) )

Take off the radiator cap when engine is COOL. Find the drain plug located in the bottom of the radiator (normaly hand tight) and let it drain out into a catch container. Put the drain plug back in, follow the instructions on the flush container topping the radiator back up. Let engine run as directed on bottle and then carefuly undo the radiator cap using a rag as not to burn yourself. Then remove the plug again and drain out the flush fluid. Then repeat the process with the radiator fluid as instructed on the bottle.
