1990 Ford Escort (manual trans) will not start (turn over, crank)

I have the escort which has sat out in the weather for about 2 years. I recently hooked up some jumper cables just to see if it would start. Did not succeed. Turn key over in ignition and just hear the solenoid clicking. Thinking it had to do with the ignition system replaces most of the components: starter (was really old and failed test), solenoid, ignition coil, spark plugs, distributor cap and rotor. Car will not crank at all just solenoid clicking. I have run out of ideas. Any help would be appreciated.

Another thing you might wanna try is take a volt meter and test the voltage of the battery, it should have 12 Volts till u turn the key to the starting position than it will drop down to 2 Volts if it stays at 12 than you have a issue with a wire or something but it is not any of the components

Restoring a 89 Ford Escort

If your car has been setting for 2 years, many of the seals and other rubber components are shot. If you have not started it in those 2 years, it's really very questionable if it's worth trying to get running again and needing it to last 5 years. You may want to seriously consider getting a different vehicle that is already running. My brother had a car that sat for 3 years and a mechanic told him it would cost too much to repair it. He told him to junk it and get money for parts. Good Luck!
