2002 Pontiac Montana. stepped on brakes, peddle went to the floor. pumped the peddle and the brakes would grab then peddle will go to the floor. brake pads and shoes good. no brake line or wheel cylinder leaks and fluid is full. one thing I did notice, is when you step on the brake pedal the fluid in the master cylinder or air is being pushed out.

SOURCE: bleed brakes but no pedal

Good! You bled the master cyl. before installation! The proper order of bleeding the lines, is to start with the wheel the greatest distance from the master cylinder. Then work your way to the next greatest distance, and last, the closest wheel. Make sure all air is removed from the lines before you proceed to the next wheel, and frequently check the master cyl. level, because, as I'm sure you know, if you **** in air at the master, you have to start all over again. I'm assuming you don't have a power bleeder, so with a helper do this with car running (make sure it's on safety stands and not going to fall on you!) Pump pedal 3 times, no need to mash the pedal into the floor, just 3 pumps 1/2 way down, hold 3rd pump at half way down level while bleeder is opened, when flow is about to stop at bleeder, close bleeder and repeat til no evidence of any air. Let me know how it goes and if you need any help.

SOURCE: 1999 Pontiac Bonneville SE 3800 ABS Brake pedal will eventually reach floor after stopping while hold car stopped. Brake pads replaced less than 5000 miles ago. Fluid level at max and does not drop. O

I would replace the MASTER CYLINDER. BLEED AIR from master cylinder BEFORE INSTALLATION. Hope this helps

SOURCE: I am drying to diagnose brake problem with 1993

yes it sounds like the problem it could maybe be the brake booster if the brakes are better at a higher idle but there is a check valve on the brake booster that cost 2.00 too replace that runs off vacume i would replace first

SOURCE: 2002 bonneville brakes sometimes push

Sure sounds like symptoms of bad internal seals in your master cylinder.

Breaks go to the floor

Then you have a massive leak somewhere as the brake peddle should not go all the way to the floor without some low break fluid indication. I would check brakes at each wheel as something isn't right or your not seeing it. Have someone pump the pedal and look to see if after the wheel is removed that the brake actually tightens and loosens. Remember that 4 wheels means 4 brakes, but master brake cylinder (where you add brake fluid) could be bad.

How do i bleed the brakes on my 1984 ford mustang never done it before

same as any nother car. take off mastercylinder cap. get a helper set in the drivers seat. apply pressure to the brake peddle. with a box or tube wrench break the fluid *** on the top of the calliper/back of drum loose. foot pressure on peddle should push it to the floor -hold it on the floor! tighten the *** on the caliper/drum tight-ish. not over tight. then let peddle up off floor. pump till you get resistance/tighteness. hold pressure on peddle, loosen *** again and peddle will go to floor again tighten ***, lift up peddle pump for pressure. repeat untill all air is out of line/ or fluid runs out clear. never let the master cylinder get low on fluid. have plenty on hand. repeat for all 4 tires.

How do i turn off the oil indicator in a 2002 pontaic montana?

If you mean the oil change indicator, turn the key to run and hit the gas peddle 4 times holding it down for about 5 seconds on the 4th.

2002 toyota tundra v6 ,brake pedal went to the floor, pumped a few times its Ok.No leakes @ wheel cyl.,fluid was fine.Whats wrong?

IF you pumped the pedal and brakes were retored, then you probably were low on fluid, and an air pocket got into the master cylinder, compressed and after your pumping was expelled. There is no way to comprress a liquid, and if there was no leaks then there is air, other than that the linkage to your peddle wasn't disconnected, and you cannot violate the laws of physics. There HAD to be a air pocket that was eliminated,

2004 Pontiac Montana Brake Lights, Pwr Window and Cruise all Quit

The same thing happened to my 2002 Montana minus the power window problem.

The brake lights and the cruise control are somehow tied in together.

I went to the scrapyard and ripped off a couple circuit boards from an old Lumina ($25 for the set) since there were no Montanas on site.

The problem seems to be when one brakelight goes the bulk of the current transfers to the other light and will blow it too.

Anyways you said you tried replacing the circuit boards and it did not work so sorry I could not be of more help.

TRY TURNING THE KEY ON AND OFF WHILE LISTENING TO THE HUM OF THE FUEL PUMP. THIS WILL CYCLE THE FUEL PUMP ON TO PRESSURIZE THE FUEL LINES. IF YOU DON'T HEAR THE FUEL PUMP KICKING ON THEM CHECK THE FUSE FOR IT, UNDER THE HOOD. HOPE THIS HELPS WITH YOUR DILEMMA. LET ME KNOW. BEST OF LUCK
