I have a 2002 subaru out back it shut down on me so i put a code reader on it and it said camshaft sensor so i changed it and it still wo,t start and i checked it again and it still says cam shaft sen

Do you have the four cylinder or the six cylinder? The six cylinder has 2 camshaft sensors - one for each camshaft. If you are still getting the code, you may have replaced the wrong one.

Does the 2001 subaru forester have timing belt or chain

It has a timing belt. There's a Youtube on how to replace the timing belt for a 2002 Subaru Forester, if you're a self do'er. Your 2001 should be similar or exact to it.

Timing chain maintenance

It's actaully a timing belt, not a chain. But the mileage recommendation i believe is 60,000 or 90,000 miles.

2003 Nissan Maxima Timing Chain

You can wait its just fine, However if you ever start to notice oil leaking from front cover, then you will need to change. If there is no loss in power feel sluggish especially on take off, Its almost impossible for these type of chains to break. So enjoy until the wheel fall off..lol. good luck
